Rogue One was enjoyable, but flawed in premise. It needed to be heist movie but isn't a heist movie. Jyn's relationship with her father doesn't have the emotional weight the film wants. Baze and Chirrut feel shoehorned in. Krennic's villain is defanged by Tarkin and Darth Vader. Vader is apparently second in command of the Empire, something that doesn't jibe with A New Hope.
It felt like a comic book story, in good and bad ways. |

I really enjoyed Rogue One and Vader making his way through the rebel ship at the end is one of my favourite Star Wars scenes.

Now they're all dead... And that can't be fixed. Regardless of their place in the trilogy there is no longer any nostalgic main character to use in the promotional materials for the next film. Hell Ackbar and I believe Niem Nunb are both dead now too, I'm certain Ackbar is though 100%.

I finally saw it yesterday too, as it took me awhile to gather some friends together. I didn't think it was as bad as everyone made it out to be and enjoyed it. I could see some of the issues with it though. Here's a great video that sums up some issues pretty well:
