Fox Preps ‘Alien’ Prequel with Carl Rinsch Directing - RopeofSilicon.com Movie News, Trailers, Reviews and More
For all of you that loved Alien and Aliens (I won't even mention the other sequels), apparently there is yet another Alien movie in the works. This may illicit some groans and "not again" from fans, but I couldn't help but wonder what new angles or themes they could possibly explore in this prequel. Any thoughts? Reservations? The good news is that Ridley Scott is the film's producer, but that doesn't guarantee anything. |

Who's Carl Rinsch?
I'll withhold all thoughts until hear what the idea behind it is. I can't really see how you do a prequel for the Alien franchise. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0727754/ The guy hasnt' done anything since 1996?

I'm thinking it has to be different guys. The interview says he works for Scott Free (the Scott brothers, both awesome directors, company). So I'm thinking he was one of their assisstant directors.

I love Alien. Aliens is perfect. Alien 3 took a while to get used to, but now I watch it more often than Alien or Aliens. I managed to watch Alien Resurrection maybe 5 times and like it up until the Alien/Human hybrid shows up... Aliens V. Predator was... ok. Aliens V. Predator Requiem had so much potential but just didn't make it (not sure why, maybe too many characters and too dark???) I'm all for trying out a new Alien flick, I'll give them all a shot and hope for the best and maybe someone will be able to re-capture that Alien/Aliens vibe. But I would rather see Aliens 2: Colonial Marines than some artsy Director's vision of an Alien movie. Space + Marines + Aliens + The Future - Predator = My perfect Aliens movie.

In the original Alien, the Nostromo was directed to go to the planet with the aliens by the owning corporation. They knew something about what was on it, so there was likely some previous encounters with the aliens. The question is if they can pull off a good story that leads in. They certainly dropped the ball on the sequels after Aliens.

I hope the character Ripley is not in there. That one is played out.

I love the Alein stories except for the scene in AVP Requiem when the hybrid Predator/Alien used the pregnant ladies to spawn new aliens. That was sick and way too dark at this time in my life. I would love to see a new Alien though.
