Jennifer Lawrence Says the Upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse Movie Is Her ''Last One''as Mystique
by BRETT MALEC Mon., Mar. 23, 2015 Say it ain't so, J.Law! At the premiere of her new movie Serena in NYC last night, Jennifer Lawrence revealed to MTV that the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie will be the last time she plays Mystique in the famous superhero franchise. "It is my last one, actually. Yes," the 24-year-old Oscar winner said with a smile on her face. Although it's sad, the news isn't totally shocking. Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender all joined the franchise at the same time and it's been reported that all of their contracts were for three films. Lawrence's X-Men co-star and former boyfriend Nicholas Hoult also told E! News just last week that Apocalypse is his final movie playing Beast. "This is the last one I'm signed up for," Hoult said at SXSW. Hoult added that he's not totally opposed to doing more X-Men flicks in the future. "The first one did so well and [Days of Future Past] got received so brilliantly," Hoult said. "It's like, Wow, people really want to see the films and the best thing is it's a great crew and cast to work with and he's a fun character. I have a good time playing him so I'd keep making them." X-Men: Apocalypse, which is set in the 1980s and directed by Bryan Singer, is due in theaters May 27, 2016. ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Casts Newcomer Lana Condor as Jubileehttp://variety.com/2015/film/news/x-men-apocalypse-jubilee-lana-condor-1201460107/ MARCH 25, 2015 Dave McNary Bryan Singer has selected actress Lana Condor to portray the mutant Jubilee in his upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The director made the announcement on Twitter and Instagram. “I’d officially like to welcome our newest mutant #JubilationLee, #Jubilee @LanaCondor to #XMEN,” Singer wrote. Jubilee first appeared in the “Uncanny X-Men” in 1989 as a teenage mutant capable of generating explosive plasmoids from her hands. She was often portrayed wearing a yellow raincoat. Singer will direct the film from a script by Simon Kinberg, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty. Jennifer Lawrence confirmed Monday that “Apocalypse” will be her last film in the franchise. “X-Men: Apocalypse” will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Rose Byrne reprising their roles along with franchise newcomers Oscar Isaac and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Neither Ian McKellen nor Patrick Stewart will be returning as their older iterations of Magneto and Professor X. The film is set for a May 27, 2016, release.

I had a feeling Lawrence was done. Fox were damn lucky she was tied into these movies before her star exploded. From the tone of her recent interviews it seems that she wouldn't have done this one either if it wasn't contractual.

She brought a big name to the movie, but that's it. She was a horrible choice for Mystique. She might be a good actress in serious films, but she's just wrong in the X films. Kind of the opposite of Fassbender and even McAvoy.

I hate Lawrence, so good riddance there. It was such a buzzkill trying to watch her be sexy with her piggy looks in First Class after having Rebecca Romijn for three movies. It'll suck to not have Stewart or McKellen in it at all though. The young versions don't hold a candle to them in either acting quality or being on-model to the characters. Not that Fassbender is a bad actor, but McKellen is just so much greater. McAvoy, though, is pretty bad in general. Days of Future Past was better than the pathetic First Class but still overrated and not nearly as good as Amazing Spider-Man 2 or Winter Soldier.

See I have the exact opposite view there. I thought Days of Future Past was the worst X film yet. Stewart and McKellen just seemed stoned or botoxed for the five minutes they were in it. Stewart in particular was just hard to watch. It looked he'd had a stroke or something recently. I think Fassbender has been the best thing about the X films that he's been in. He's really made Magneto a threat.
At this point, I don't even want to see any more films in this series. I'll stick around for the Wolverine solo films, but I'd rather see him join the Marvel movies instead. I really hope Fox will work out a deal similar to what Sony did with Marvel for Spider-Man. The only hang up is that they aren't as desperate as Sony was. I know Marvel is hoping the Inhumans will take the place of the mutants, but I'm just not seeing that working out. |

This franchise is probably going to lose all the steam it's generated with the "First Class" films once Jennifer Lawrence and (likely) Michael Fassbender bail after the next film. McAvoy might stick around, but even that's iffy (he's not as big a star, but he's still a "serious actor"). About the only constant that can be counted on is that Hugh Jackman is determined to play Wolverine until he's old enough to reach "Old Man Logan" age for real.

Does anybody know if Sophie Turner can speak in an American accent or will we get some X-Men movie hella random incongruous shit, where this movie is an alternate reality, Jeannie is now supposedly from the U.K.?
