Hey. Did anyone watch the pilot yesterday? Did you like it, or are you tired of another Dracula story? I'll probably watch it until Football season starts. Its the only thing on Sunday nights for me right now. It was OK, but its another vampire/zombie story to me. Its funny that another well known hobbit is on FX. First was Frodo on Wilfred, then Bilbo on Fargo, and now Sam is in The Strain.
Hey Mods, can you change the title to say The Strain on FX? Stupid fat fingers. Thanks.

I wish it would make its mind up. Maybe this stuff is explained down the line but The Master appears to be subject to ''magic'' lore (e.g. sleeping in a coffin of dirt) but then there are ''science'' vampires, caused by worms.
Maybe they're going to go down the Necroscope route and have science explain the ''magic'' behind vampires but it just felt a bit disjointed. And everybody was a character from a Stephen King novel, which didn't help. But I kind of think I enjoyed it. And David Bradley kicks ass.

I liked what I saw. The first episode was directed by Guillermo del Toro and as usual I think he did a great job. I don't know if this is the only episode of the season that he's directed, but I hope he does more. I don't mind a good Dracula story, so it doesn't bother at all. I'm looking forward to seeing what David Bradley does this season. I've gotten used to seeing him as Walder Frey. I think this is a very nice departure from that character. In this first episode he had a great performance. It was a good first step for the show and I hope they can continue keeping me interested.
I also like that it's going head-to-head with The Leftovers. I'm very interested in seeing which of the two former LOST EP's will come out on top. |

I feel like I've seen a few scenes of tonight's show before. The jailhouse meeting with the vamp/lawyer felt like a scene from inglorious bastards. Then the last scene with the little girl being a monster felt like that first episode scene from the walking dead when rick blows the zombie girl away. They tried to go for the shock value of monster little girls. Overall, I'll still watch it until football starts.

I liked last night's episode. Pretty messed up when a dude flushes his junk down the toilet. I guess these Vampires reproduce with their bite, so there must be no need for gonads. Pretty efficient. Now if boobs start falling off, I'll be real sad. There can never be enough boobies!!!!
