It's a guilty pleasure for sure, but am I the only one who's enjoying The CW's new sci-fi show The 100?
Yes, it's Lord of the Flies for the Twilight generation but it's surprised me a few times with some interesting twists and a pretty brutal approach.

OK, if you're not watching The 100, you should be. The initial ''pretty young things in peril oh no romance and drama!'' veneer makes it appear a lot more immature and teen girly than it is.
I don't want to say any more as it'll spoil the episodes but I think somebody has been taking a few pages from George R.R. Martin's playbook. I'm by no means saying it's GoT level quality but for a show aimed at the YA audience, it's pretty brave.

I've been watching it too. It's still a bit iffy but it's done enough for me to try to watch it until the season ends. I caught that scene that you're referring to and it really did catch me by surprise. I couldn't believe I didn't see it coming but it made sense when I thought about it.
Lord of the Flies meets After Earth starring April O'neil, Dr. Burke, and Desmond. What a concept Brotha! Last edited by Iron Guru; 04-18-2014 at 01:12 AM.. |

I'm actually quite impressed with The CW for producing so many scripted dramas - especially with a fantasy bend. I don't think even SyFy matches them for the number of SF/fantasy dramas they air.

It's a real shame nobody's watching The 100 (or at least, nobody I know - ''Hey I saw you on Letterman... Hey I saw you at the store...'') because it's way more complex and morally gray than the trailers make it appear.
If you're a fan of people in moral dilemmas - where people who consider themselves ''good'' are faced with doing ''bad'' things for the ''right'' reason - you should be watching this. It's by no means Game of Thrones but for a supposedly ''young adult'' show it has some pretty impressive twists and characters with that same kind of moral ambiguity whereby you may not always agree with their actions but you understand their motivations - something most TV dramas these days seem to lack.

Lol! You're not alone. I did mention that I would continue to watch throughout the end of the season. That was a good episode last night. They finally got communication going on in more ways than one. Not much at all is totally black and white in the show, but there are people who have agendas, and just when you are either for or against them they do something to make you reconsider. It makes for a better drama than I expected and some of the thing's that go on are totally understandable.

The 100 has been renewed for second season. Plus The Flash has been picked up along with iZombie and another ''supernatural drama'' called The Messengers (an adaptation of the movie) by The CW.
The Tomorrow People and Star-Crossed have been canned.

It's to bad about the Tomorrow People. I liked it but they messed it up in my opinion by moving it from Wednesday to Monday. Since they did that I hardly watched it. I never watched a full episode since the move just a few minutes about two times from what I remember.
