Disney & Netflix Team For FOUR Marvel TV Series, Including DAREDEVIL | CHUD.com
Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and uh...Jessica Jones. To be followed by a big Team-up. Can't help but feel this may well be the nail in the coffin for Agents of SHIELD though...if Marvel is shifting their "B-List" to Netflix, that kinda kills a lot of the chances that these characters might be introduced/show up on AoS (and three of those four were very much at the top of many lists in terms of characters people thought might show up). On the flipside, if ABC cancels AoS (probably not until after the second season at the earliest) it could potentially shift to Netflix as well.... Great on Marvel for getting more of their characters out there without overloading the cinema with movies, though. |

I don't thin it'll affect AoS at all, adversely. Two different types of shows and nothing that will prevent characters from crossing over.
Netflix will allow them to do a harder edged/more mature show then what can be done on ABC. ABC is also producing these 4 shows along with Marvel. Marvel and Netflix Team on Four Series Leading Up to The Defenders! | Superhero Hype

Just not (initially) in his own series. Call Tom Jane, Marvel. He's totally down for it, I assure you. |

I just can't see how a Jessica Jones series would be interesting. Forget that Dr. Strange movie and replace JJ with Strange. She plays much better with Luke Cage than going solo.

And Alias (the Comic) was a pretty damn good series, even though it'll tread a lot of the same ground as Agents of SHIELD. It's basically what started Brian Michael Bendis' climb to the top of the Marvel heap. |

I'm happy about these shows. I think it is a great way to get them out and not saturate the market with too many superhero shows. Hopefully they will be good. I think a character like Dare Devil will do much better with story driven episodes rather than a movie format. And I can’t see a DD show on the ABC network being a true DD story.

It'll all depend on who is cast to me. If they get some bland young guy like on Agents of SHIELD to play Daredevil, I'm out. Hopefully, since it will be a short season, they can get somebody that would be good enough to make a feature film with if they wanted to. So that would rule out any unknown actors.
I still don't know why AOS is so...shiny. It belongs on ABC Family. There's plenty of other network shows that are watched by young people that can get pretty dark. Hell, even Smallville was on at 8pm and routinely featured high schoolers dying. Supernatural is another one that is just brutal at times. Not saying that's what AOS needs, but more action wouldn't hurt. I want the SHIELD we've seen in the movies. Uniforms and guns and steel paneled sets and gadgets. Instead we get SHIELD 90210. |

I seem to recall watching a woman getting immolated alive just a couple of weeks ago. That's pretty damned dark and disturbing.

That said, I think he offers a compelling thematic change to the current crop of MCU offerings, and I think Marvel would be keen to use him as a foundation to a supernatural side to the MCU, much as Guardians of the Galaxy is their foundation to their cosmic stories. I'm interested in this thing. I think going through Netflix offers interesting possibilities going forward, foremost among them is not dealing with network wants and desires. Agents of Shield will putter on as long as ABC deems it so, but I think this Netflix deal might takes us more to an "anime format" where they are able to tell a complete story arc in 13 episodes, and not have to worry about mid-story cancellations or having to keep expanding on the series for ratings. I think, if handled correctly, would not only offer a new means of consuming this entertainment, but produce a better product overall.
