Hey, I've been thinking on the future of the line in regards to the upswing in anti-military sentiment due to the current war(s) and other things. One idea is the advent of a 1/18th-scale Adventure Team line, which I really love.
An idea I've had is something in the vein of NCIS: Los Angeles or Flashpoint; the adventures of a paramilitary counter-terrorism task force based in the U.S. but globe-trotting in an effort to stop bad guys. Hostage negotiation and solving crimes would be a big part of it, with action being only about 30-40% of each episode. The roster could definitely include former Joes or Joes reimagined as members of the FBI Hostage Rescue Team or something of the like. Special Agent in Command Earl "Bullet-Proof" Morris: The team's no-nonsense leader. A former U.S. Army major and SWAT Team leader, Morris has seen his share of dangerous situations and can always be counted on to keep a cool head when things get ugly. He still uses his old Army code-name with pride; it was bestowed upon him by his Captain when Morris was a young 2nd Lieutenant. Running through a hail of gunfire with a wounded comrade over his shoulder, Lt. Morris emerged unscathed leading his proud C.O. to remark "the kid is bullet-proof!" Agent Morris is a firm believer in the law and follows his orders to the letter. A stern, unforgiving leader, Morris is highly respected by both his superiors and the men and women under his command. Lieutenant Phil "Chuckles" Provost: A former Army Intelligence officer specializing in dangerous undercover assignments. Once his tour was over, several civilian law enforcement agencies vied for his services. Provost now serves as the liason between the team and local police agencies. He gets his nickname from his tendency to joke and laugh, even with his marks. Lt. Provost believes that the ends justify the means and will often take unsanctioned, even illegal actions in the name of a job well done. This occasionally brings him into conflict with the more regimented Agent Morris, but beneath the occasional strife lies a deep-rooted respect between professional former soliders. Special Agent Courtney "Cover Girl" Krieger: The team's undercover agent and unarmed combat expert, Krieger is as deadly as she is beautiful. Formerly a member of the U.S. FDA, Agent Krieger was given her name after an extended stint undercover posing as a fashion model. After eleven months of trials and tribulations, Agent Krieger was instrumental in procuring evidence linking one of Europe's most prolific cosmetics brands with human trafficking and testing. When news of this case reached Special Agent Morris' ears, he requested her immediate transfer. Agent Krieger is the consummate professional; her eyes are constantly scanning for threats and she never lets her guard down. It is rumoured that she even sleeps with one of her pistols under her pillow. Special Agent Jason Faria: The team's "door-kicker" and muscle, Agent Faria is a tough and muscular former SWAT team member. Hailing from Detroit, Faria has an unforgiving stance on urban crime, especially despising drug traffickers due to an unknown event from his time as a SWAT officer. Despite his tough-as-nails persona and his occasionally ruthless treatment of detainees, Agent Faria also has a softer side. He spends his downtime volunteering at a soup kitchen, as a child was (literally) a choir boy and visits his mother several times a week. Faria is standoffish with most people and is hesitant to give his trust to anyone. Nevertheless, Agent Faria is willing to lay down his life in defence of his team and his country. Agent Cyril "Skidmark" Colombani: The youngest member of the team and also their driver. He drives fast and talks tough, but is occasionally unprepared for the danger the team faces. His nickname comes from an embarrassing incident during his first mission with the team when they came under heavy fire and Colombani's bowels failed. A young and relatively inexperienced member, Colombani longs to prove himself and is occasionally hotheaded and brash. Agent Morris' firm rebukes at such actions often mask a fatherly pride in his young charge. Recurring Characters Operational Psychologist Kenneth Rich: A former Army Intelligence operative, he once served with but doesn't entirely trust Provost due to an undisclosed incident in their past. Dr. Rich is now a psychoanalyst who helps the team with interrogations and profiling suspects. He occasionally does fieldwork, where he proves that he hasn't forgotten his training. To those who don't know him, Rich can seem aloof and cold. Once he's comfortable with a person, a dry sense of humour and keen wit emerge, much to the delight of many. Agent Jill Morelli: A young former hacker who worked as an FBI consultant for three years as part of a plea bargain, Agent Morelli is a certified computer genius. The FBI office had planned on dropping her once her sentence was fulfilled, but Special Agent Morris offered her a position on his team. Specialist Kurt Schnurr: A HAZMAT specialist who works in association with the team. Agent Morris calls on Schnurr and Lt. Kelley when dealing with environmental contaminants or biological hazards. His skill at his job more than offsets his rather bland personality, which flies in contrast to Kelley's more rambunctious persona. Lieutenant Gabriel Kelley: A Boston-born, Washington, D.C. based firefighter with military and containment experience. Not officially part of the team, he is always on-call and often peels away from his regular duties to help them during occurrences of arson. He is also familiar with biological and environmental containment protocols and is proficient with small-arms. An amiable and jovial man on and off the job, Lt. Kelley is popular with the team and Agent Morris considers him an honorary member. Last edited by Laird McCullen; 10-07-2013 at 06:36 PM.. |

Put a lot of thought into that. Sounds good, and I'd buy it, provided the figures were the same scale. Adventure Team seems the most likely direction, though with a third film in the pipe, I think we'll just see more oversaturated sub-par first waves followed up by hard to find much improved final wave of paramilitary ninjas. There really are a lot of different directions that GI Joe can go: zombies, criminal investigation, archaeologists, dinosaur hunters, astronauts, alien hunters, robo-ninjas, whatever. Hopefully we see some indication soon.

That's sounds like an awesome premise. NCIS is may favorite show, but this would quickly replace it.
On a side note, did you see the NCIS episode where all the supporting cast had Joe File names? |

Sounds like a good idea...but
dont think it is possible to have a globe trotting paramilitary task force that would solve international crimes, because of jurisdiction and sovereignty of each country. And from my understanding... NCIS is a police drama that deals with crimes limited to the Navy or Marines. Lastly, you stated that "Cover girl" Kreiger was a former member of the U.S. FDA, and got her name for being undercover as a fashion model. Im pretty sure FDA is the Food and Drug Administration. |

It is just a shame that the executives at Hasbro are to bullheaded to bring back the Adventure Team for a new generation. Hasbro created the Adventure team in the 70s do to the backlash against military toys. There is a huge market that they could create using already existing items. The only problem is that they do not have an epilepsy inducing cartoon that drowns the idea of buying every trading card into the heads of 8 to 12 year olds, to go along with the toys. I would love to see a updated version of Adventure Team, they could even save money and have a live actor television series.

It's a neat idea! The Cover Girl/FDA part is a bit of a stretch, but it could work. Two other characters that would be natural fits for this team are Bullhorn and Lifeline. Bullhorn would be the negotiator/sniper (much like the characters on Flashpoint) and Lifeline could either be a regular member as the team medic (due to his experience as a civilian firefighter/paramedic) or a recurring character who helps Barbecue and Airtight on chem/bio weapons. In fact, Lifeline might fit better with this concept than the "regular" military one given his portrayal as a pacifist.
