I really liked the first film. More than any of the Marvel-world films except for the first "Iron Man".
I do have fears for the sequel though. They're filming a lot of it here in Cleveland. I don't know about anyone not from here, but when I saw the Avengers, it was obvious that it wasn't filmed in New York to me. They did all the big fight scenes at the end here in that, and I really hope it looks better in this film. Given the title of the film, it's pretty clear who the villain is. I won't ruin his secret identity for anyone that doesn't know the story. It's not one of my favorites, and I never cared for the look of the character, but in the movie he looks even worse. You can see it here if you wish to click on it: http://imgick.cleveland.com/home/cle...5c1cc79971.jpg It's kind of like Johnny Blaze stole the New Goblin's mask (from "Spider-Man 3"). I think they could have gone a bit more over the top with it. This is a world with Iron Man in it, so he should have some kind of armor pieces. |

Thanks, I hadn't see that picture before.
I am really looking forward to this. I loved the first film. If there's one complaint I have about Iron Man 3 it's that he just joined the Avengers and no one was there to help him. From the pictures I've seen there will be at least one Avenger back along with Cap and I think that's perfect.

Yeah, the plot of Iron Man 3 seemed to be something SHIELD would be involved in. I'm glad they weren't, because they clogged up the second movie. But it would have been a chance to flesh out Hawkeye a bit. Or to have Bruce Banner show up for more than a cameo.
No way to tell how much they're in Cap 2, but Scarlett Johansson and Sam Jackson have both been spotted here in Cleveland quite a bit. |

I think ScarJo and Sam L(logically)would have a large part in Cap II.
Fury and Widow loomed large enough in the WS storyline.I personally think this will be the best of the phase II movies. cant wait. |

The Falcon in this movie looks more like a G.I. Joe wondering how the toys will be like.If they keep going with this 5 point articulation I would be pissed

I'm sure the movie will be just fine. Marvel hasn't managed to truly disappoint me yet, and I doubt they'll start now.
As for action figures, we may luck out: If the preview of the Thor line (from Toy Fair) is any indication, Hasbro's actually willing to beef up the articulation on the "lesser" lines...probably because they don't have the confidence that the franchise is "big" enough to warrant significant kid investment and therefore are reliant on collectors for any degree of success. In short, I wouldn't be surprised if the Cap line is at least as articulated as the Avengers and/or first Cap line was. Possibly more. I just hope they give us an unmasked Steve Rogers that isn't a rare variant. |

Joe Johnston did a hell of a job with the first film. Giving it a charm and a sort of Indiana Jones feeling. The 1940's setting really helped that. I hope the Russo brothers can do the same with a modern-day Cap. But I do fear they were chosen because they were a cheap hire. And the look of the second Thor movie has a certain cheapness to it too. Sort of a big-budget cable movie style, which given the director isn't surprising. Even Shane Black wasn't a big name hire for Iron Man 3. That made a mint because most people think it's better than the first, and it's got Robert Downey Jr. in it.

Can't wait for Winter Solder though, Cap Am 1 is my favourite of the Avengers movies.

You have a very, very strange definition of "looking cheap." Also, by all means regale us with how you got into an advance screening, as the preview we've seen certainly doesn't look any more "cheap" than any other big-budget sci-fantasy film. A "cheap hire" isn't necessarily a bad hire vs. a smart hire. We haven't had a truly "A-List" movie director on any Marvel film yet. Even Joss Whedon, while a Geek demigod with a degree of success on television (but more flops than successes), had very little success as a big-budget film director (Serenity may have been great if you were a Firefly fan, but it flopped in theaters) prior to Avengers. Kenneth Branagh was probably the best-known director they got, and he was somewhat of a "has-been." Why do you think Marvel is suddenly going to start being crappy based on one preview and a couple out-of-context shots of characters in costume? I remember well the outcry when the first Thor pics cropped up and people started screaming "ZOMG it's gonna be as campy as Flash Gordon!" Last edited by Jmacq1; 06-02-2013 at 10:41 AM.. |
