[QUOTE=BEAM;4195800]So who's the Joe who does the water boarding?[/b]
Chuckles, Scarlett or some other JOE with an intelligence background or you could have the C.I.A. or a third party do it. Quote:
Seriously, this is a thread topic? GI Joe is a fantasy of a military team. Always has been, always will be. As much as people hate to admit it ROC was closer to true GI Joe than ZDT. Nanites, world domination, underwater fortress - have we forgotten the unabashed absurdity of the Sunbow cartoon? Even the Marvel series, while trying to be serious is absurd and a cartoon version of the military.
ZDT is a true story told through the lens of Hollywood. The raid on UBL's compound is a fraction of the movie. If this was GI Joe, it's be a boring as Joe movie. I would love to see Vivid or Red Light District go one of those adult parody movies, then come on here and see you guys talk about how that was an accurate representation of JOE lore. Quote:
Wait, was a Bin Laden a used car salesman? Did he have a henchwoman that was essentially a European version of Paris Hilton, and they both based their careers in terrorism on one mute, masked, Ranger-ninja even though he personally did nothing to them and they had plenty of time to kill him before he was recruited into the fancy anti-terrorist team specifically formed to combat their terrorist organization? Because I missed that in the trailer.
JOE Stans also love to fall back on the "absurdity of the JOE cartoon and other wacker aspects of JOE history. That's like Nolan including the campiness of Adam West Batman in his interpretation of the movie and when Joel Schumacher did it, we see how well it was received. The overly problem with a lot of you is that have overly eager to accept anything with the JOE brand name on it, (even if it is an inferior product,) due to this unfounded paranoia that if you don't the brand ( or at least this incarnation of the brand,) will die. Even if JOE was be put on hiatus or be retired, the brand isn't going anywhere, it will just come back as something else, just like the 12 inch JOEs were retired and came back as a A Real American Hero. Anyway, I saw ZDT, and my fears were alleviated. From the trailers, I thought ZDT would more focused on the military aspects of the mission, not the intel gathering part. The only parts of the movie I would see JOE characters fitting in would Firefly doing his thing and Siegies acting as sleepers. I thought [i]ZDT was cool, but out of the three Best Film nominees I saw, I thought it was the weakest of the three and wasn't something that necessarily needed to be seen in theater.

Because some fanboys can't accept that G.I.joe is not limited to what their own self-important and limited imaginations say it is. Nobody from Hollywood came to THEM- the biggest Joe fans evah' - and asked their opinions or ideas and that pisses them off. They'll say accepting anything less then what their childhood memories are made of is allowing yourself to be spoon-feed Hollywood's BS and you're not a fan because a 'real' fan wouldn't accept ROC/retaliation as G.I.Joe. Nothing (short of getting millions of dollars handed to them to make their own movie) is going to make them happy- best to just forget them and move on with your love of G.I.joe in all it's crazy forms.

^ For the record that's not my quote. I never posted what is being attributed to me.
You might want to try fixing it and credit the proper poster. |

I just saw Zero Dark Thirty 2 days ago and I don't see how Retaliation can be compared. They are completely different movies. I wouldn't even call ZDT an action movie. It's more of a drama if anything. It has suspense sure, but action? Not really. It can leave you wondering how much resistance the SEALs get once they infiltrate the compound in Pakistan but it didn't leave me there with my adrenaline pumping.
Retaliation is an action movie where action will be much more exaggerated and instantaneous. The action will be heightened/highlighted, whereas ZDT was presented more like "alright this is what happened, and how, with some dramatic acting blended in". |
