I concur.I dont see how it was any different to the others really apart from a more science fiction theme/gimmick than a religious one -and I find aliens more believable anyway

Everytime I think South Park can't out do themselves, here they come again (no pun intended ). I love Lucas with Indy up on the pinball machine like in that Jody Foster movie from the 80's, and then with Toht and some of his bad guys from Radiers looking on. .

If you go back on the Indy 4 DVD and watch the making of the moive section, you can TELL Spielberg is trying to get across he really did NOT want to do it for a while and Lucas pushed him into it, as did a lot of others. Harrison Ford had been quoted for years after Crusade that he would NEVER play Han Solo again, but would do Indy again "in a New York minute". .

I'd put 4 on the same level as T.O.D., I can take it or leave it. Crusade is still the best in my opnion, with Radiers coming in 2nd.
I love the end of 4 at the wedding where the wind blows the hat to the kid's feet and he goes to pick it up and put it on as if it's the passing of the mantle to him, and then Indy snatches it out of his hand like "I don't think so". To me, THAT saved 4 for me as a movie. Had he put the hat on I would be done with Indy forever. :( .

I have to say that I have enjoyed the CN Clone Wars episodes. So, no, I can't start doggin' the movie. I, like you, liked EP1 the least. Sometimes I decide that I'm going to watch all 6 in a row, but I never make it through EP1!

I think my biggest problem with Crystal Skull was that I never felt that the characters were in any danger. In the first three, when you see Indy commandeer a Nazi truck, race through the mines in a rickety old cart, or fight the Nazis on a tank in the desert, you know he probably isn't going to die, but there's a real sense of peril and the sequences are well done. I didn't feel anything like that in this film. That jungle chase scene seems like it was shot on a soundstage because, well, it was. The actors react poorly to the CGI and the background reminded me of the Flintstones when you'd see lamp-chair-couch, lamp-chair-couch, everytime Fred was chasing Dino. Just the same thing over and over.
Also, Indy doesn't really do all that much. He's mostly along for the ride, either following Oxley around or just being a pawn of the Russians. He never takes charge of any situation. And when the kid throws a punch and leads them out of the Russian camp, Indy seems really confused. Oh, and CGI groundhogs. Ugh. |
