I've only seen a couple of episodes of Clone Wars.
Is it a kids cartoon? No. Do kids watch it? Yes. In the few episodes I've seen: lots and lots of people have died, from clones to Jedi. And I wouldn't call anything that comes on at 9 at night a kids show. Clone Wars is PG-13. Oh yeah.. Hasbro has nothing to say about Clone Wars and the stories or dialogue. They're just happy it's popular and lets them sell a shit ton of toys.

Funny story..
Our youngest dog ate the remote to our tv, so we can't change the volume or switch it from TV to DVD/XBox. That means we have to actually get up and do it manually. It's like we're living in the middle ages.

So are you upset that there is rough talk in kids shows OR are you upset GI Joe cartoons don't have similar dialogue?

When I was a kid...I was the remote. My dad would call me down from my room just to change the channel or volume.

I'm just pissed that they brought Maul back. I remember Lucas saying he deliberately showed Maul in two pieces so that the EU couldn't bring him back like Boba Fett.

Well...I see the point your trying to make and honestly I think 80's cartoon came more underpressure to put forth more than as it was so often put, "A 30 min toy commercial."
That has changed. Now a days their really is no kids groups that feel that way, cartoons NOT having toys is nearly unheard of these days. But here's the funniest part of the argument about violence in cartoons. The Flintstones hawked smokes. Warner Cartoons fully promoted war... Tom and Jerry took cartoon violence to perhaps all new levels. And Disney....the end all be all of family entertainment, such things as racist crows, attempted murder (Snow White), and actual murder (The Lion King), and occult magic (Disney's Life Size). And today's cartoons pretty much can go anywhere as shows like South Park and Family Guy have shown...and trust me...people do let kids watch those shows as well...and they too have toys. Honestly 80's cartoons simply were caught in a wave of self righteous people who simply wanted nothing more than to impose their views on anything they could...cartoons had to have a moral, and PSA, music had to be censored and albums labeled...movies needed to add a special new PG13 rating, and eventually video games rated as well...now even TV shows. And honestly does ANYONE pay attention to these completely pointless ratings? I mean I don't even know what the TV ratings are...but I know well enough to watch a damn show before I let my 3 year old nephew watch it especially if I'm not sure of content, but honestly if you don't have some idea if a child should watch say.......Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, vs letting them watch.....Go Diego Go....then your a moron and ratings are likely not gonna matter anyway. |

So I am watching the new episdoe of Clone Wars "Revenge" and Darth Maul whipped out his lightsaber and told Obiwon that he will enjoy cutting into OW and "hopes that every cut is Excruciating and will enjoy WATCHING HIS DEATH."
WOW, Hold On, Penalty, throw the flag. Since when in the 1980s best generation of cartoons did our shows talk about cutting into people and enjoy watching their death? This is BS Hasbro! Is Hasbro okay with this type of Trash dialouge in a Kids show, why no effort in GI Joe cartoon? So parents would rather have their kids watch characters talking up cutting someone in pieces and hope their die in excruciating pain and will take pleasure in watching them die??? Really, you parents out their are cool with that but aren't okay with GI Joe? WTF is up with that??? |

Flint once said "heck" in an episode of the sun bow series. That kind of salty talk wasn't allowed in my house.
