I love sci-fi films, and I'm sure many people on this site do to. Now I've seen ALOT of spacecraft designs in Films and Television, some were ridiculous, some just needing us to catch up with the propulsion systems and fuels to make'em go...
Seeing as how space is a Vacuum, and Aerodynamics aren't a concern, what Ship has been the most realistic to you?... In my opinion the Icarus in "SUNSHINE" and the DISCOVERY 1 in "2001:A SPACE ODYSSEY" are pretty close approximations of what the future may hold. There have been some serious consideration on the matter of Deep Space Spacecraft, especially in the 60's! Freeman Dyson helped design the "Orion", what would've been a HUGE Nuclear Starship with crew modules for InterSolar System Exploration, The British Interplanetary Society came up with the "Daedalus" a ship that would have employed Nuclear Fusion using Deuterium as a reaction catalyst, Finally R.W.Bussard came up with the Bussard Fusion Ramjet...some of you may recognize these as the reddish swirly things at the tip of "Star Trek" starships warp nacelles or "Bussard Ramscoops" they suck in interstellar hydrogen to be used for fuel in fusion...of ALL these ships ONLY the Bussard Ramjet could in principle, travel close enough to the speed of light for special relativistic time dilation to apply. Well, not to bore anyone, let me just ask-what Movie/TV SpaceShip looked the most plausible?...and on the other end of the Spectrum, which Movie/TV SpaceShip just looked plain AWESOME to you?...just curious

As much as I like the original and even the new re-imagining of it and the ones that came after it. The Refit/A design is just beautiful.
