Wandering thru Walmart I saw the Shortsword, The Wraith, and The bigass Pelican. All of them are bad ass. I walked away with the Rocket Hog vs Ghost set. In time I will be back for those 3 sets plus the Aerial Ambush and Locust vs Gauss Hog sets.

Finally back from Myrtle Beach. After constantly getting interrupted and staying up late to finish putting it together, I finally put the HALO PELICAN together. Its frakkin great, the directions suck ass and are misleading, but overall the ship is big. The ship is about 17.5 inches long not counting the gun and antenna attached to the front. She is 14.5 inches in width. She is pretty heavy, so I dont think anyone will feel gyped out of the $60 you spend on her. I have to go back over the directions for the starboard side engine, something is not right--not to worry tho, big load of extra pieces, Im sure I missed something somewhere. The graphics are misleading, when you apply a 2x6 plate, its actually a 1x6 plate (x2), maybe Im just going blind but you really have to look hard at the image to make you you have it right. The wings pivot via some sort of wratchet effect of a male/female piece. All in all, Im pretty happy with it.
Now, I picked up a GHOST HAWK and pilot and used them for scale. I tried to make a Joe-scale Pelican. It was not pretty but I did learn alot. I orignally made it with a slanted frame-WRONG and the tail was angled wrong. She was over 3 feet long. Needless to say, it went to the round file and Im starting over. After building one out of bricks, I found where my errors were, initial design being one of them. By the by, a hot glue gun is where the fun is to be had, I made it in a few hours. I have larger foamboard and a bigger desire to make it happen. I have to break out the 25th anniv. Jeep, oh yes, this will happen. |

Too bad McFarlane doesn't make a Drop Pod for their ODST Troopers, with McFarlanes detailing, that' be an awesome "Vehicle" to display...I just love those things!

I got one of the larger Magnetic megablox Spartans he's pretty awesome and quite posable. I just wish they had made spartans using the mini magnetic range they did like those Knights. they made a few years back cuz they were near 4" and joe scale

my kids have several of these sets and the figures. the vehicles literally fall apart. they are not playable at all really. good for static display but unless you glue it all together, they are just to fragile for kids to play with.

I hear you Arch, they are a pain in the ass and glue seems to be the only way to ensure nothing falls off. What gets me is that MB has done such a great job coming up with vehicles and army packs and buildable figures, the only thing missing from this line is mini-vehicles of ships/vehicles. The Shortsword is really amazing and would make a great successor to the lame ROC NIGHTWING. I plan on customizing my ROC Nightwing into a Shortsword. Im not thrilled with it at all with it. Halo has some great concept ships and vehicles. Too bad McFarlane didnt go for the 3 3/4 inch scale, that would have cool as hell. With the HALO movie on hold and Microsoft wanting to put more into the HALO WARS/HALO REACH games, I doubt we will see anything soon.
