Alright, one day late, but here is the Slugger. I wanted to give it gun traverse but didn't want to add a turret, which would have changed its characteristic appearance. So it occurred to me to make the top one entire turret. The Slugger doesn't fire on the move, so the driver functions as the gunner when the vehicle is stationary. And there's also space for a commander.

It's time for me to once more bolster my Cobra ground forces. I've already built many of the classic early ones, but there were a bunch in the mid to late era I want to represent too. Here is the Rage, which is a natural addition to the Cobra City Strike Force that I started years ago - and four years on, I'm still liking these colors.
I haven't included all the original features, in part because I couldn't fit them all in. Instead of two crew side by side and a third in the turret, I've gone with a crew of three sitting in tandem in the hull. I suppose it looks a little like a Batman Tumbler, but that wasn't intentional. Cobra Rage by Magnus-L, on Flickr Cobra City Strike Force by Magnus-L, on Flickr |

"What was once the stuff of science fiction has become science present. Cobra leads the way in battlefield technology with this armored hardsuit, armed with a machine gun and a missile launcher, as well as a terrifying close-combat saw and claw combination designed to tear apart vehicles and buildings. The SNAKE is slow moving, but impervious to small arms fire, and can handle rough terrain that would be inaccessible for most vehicles. It's most valuable feature is probably the psychological effect it has on anyone in its path."

"Cobra has developed a number of H.I.S.S. variants since the original H.I.S.S. tank took the battlefield, but of them have been versions of the original H.I.S.S. hull. This larger and heavier H.I.S.S. shares common features with other vehicles that share its name, but aside from the turret itself, the Heavy Class H.I.S.S. is a completely new design.
The Heavy Class H.I.S.S. goes a long way in rectifying several shortcomings of the original design, most notably in armor, crew size, and dismount capacity. Its three man crew comprise of a driver and commander, seated side by side in front as well as a gunner. It has space for four troopers in the rear, with space for two more to hang on at the back. The excellent tried and tested turret of the classic H.I.S.S. has no deficiencies that needed to be upgraded, but the new model adds extra firepower in the form of two machine guns facing forward. Its crew remain somewhat exposed behind heavy armored glass, but the armor everywhere else has been thickened. The Heavy H.I.S.S.'s larger size and weight requires a more powerful engine and wider tracks, and as a result, this heavy H.I.S.S. has no problem keeping up with its lighter relatives." I've wanted to build a larger HISS for a while. I wasn't able to get the front crew compartment to lower, as it does on my first H.I.S.S., but I did give it a split canopy look, that pays some homage to the early variants of the H.I.S.S., as they were represented in the comic. I'm especially happy with the working suspension I was able to fit in. My Cobra forces haven't really had much in the way of truly heavy armor, but that's finally changing. I also want to build another of these "heavies" with more tanklike qualities, especially in the main gun department - in the meantime, think of this as a sort of heavy IFV. And here's a bigger one, the B.U.G.G. II. Compared to the original, I changed the colors, switched the positions of the turret and the minisub, and added an airlock and a troop compartment with space for four Eels.

"Cobra's obsession with VTOL capabilities continues with the newest aircraft to join its air fleet. With the Hurricane, Cobra finally has a fast, maneuverable multirole jet fighter. The Hurricane is armed with a pair of 20mm cannon and has ten hardpoints for missiles and bombs. It achieves VTOL capability through a combination of thrust vectoring at the rear and a lift fan right behind the cockpit. With a lighter warload, it has a top speed of Mach 2."
I've wanted to do this one for a while - here comes my take on the Hurricane. I wanted to build an improved version that retained the basic look and VTOL feature but in a more manageable and realistic way. Instead of the wings and canards swinging up, I've simply made the jet nozzles in the back swivel down, and I've sacrificed the second seat for a lift fan right behind the cockpit. So my Hurricane has a VTOL system similar to the Yak-38 or the F 35B. The BUGG is just amazing. I think that's the whole point, not just copying the original toy in LEGO form, but actually improving it.

Thank you all! Doing this allows me to change colors and change/improve designs where I think the vehicles benefit from that but I've also had a few where I didn't think that much could be improved upon a perfect toy so I just modeled it as close as possible to the original. I do have some more Cobra armor coming soon, and then I need to get back to giving the Joes some love again!
