I had the same problem. Pushing on the ring on one side popped it up on the other side. Every time I tried to put the chair on or stand a figure the deck separated somewhere. The plates on the bottom really helped keep it stiff and solid.

I think it varies by shipment, some seem to get the inner ring that will lock, some not, mine came with several parts that will not lock no matter what like the inner ring. i still have a the skyhawk with parts fall off like the landing struts and one of the missiles no matter how many times i pushed down.

Just put my Terror Drone together and I had no issues. No warping pieces and everything went together really nicely. My only complaint is that my Serpentors chest piece stamp is crooked which bothers me. If any one who got multiple sets and have a nice extra Serpentor chest piece, please LMK. Other wise this set is a great improvement over the older Kre-o sets.

Seems like I was lucky enough not to have the same issue. Mine is relatively perfect other than the lift catching on the jail cell on the way down. It's built correctly. It's just that the top of it comes over juuuuust enough to catch it. Pulling up slightly on the backside of the cell and loosening it fixes the issue. I never fully pushed the top portion down to connect it to the lower. Maybe that would start causing problems. I wanted easy access to the inside. LEGO uses a mix of tiles and a few studs to securely hold roofs on a building while making it very easy to remove and get to the good stuff when you need to. Kre-o opted for a one-big-building design so I just never pushed it down.

No matter what my son and I did, we could NOT get the upper part to stick together, especially the two separate four-part superstructures. We used some light gray 2x6 pieces directly under each chair, 2x3s at the top of the "flying saucer" structure, and 6x8 plates at the bottom of each chair area, right where the top slides together with the base. We also dropped 1x2 flat plates underneath each silo door piece, between the two 1x1s that hold it up, which stabilized those quite a bit too. That turned out to lock it down REALLY well, and the 6x8 plates have the added bonus of stabilizing the seam between the top and bottom. It also has virtually no effect on the look of the thing. It's kind of surprising how easy it was to get the structural integrity back together; it's rock-solid now but it started coming apart if you did so much as open the silo doors before. And we squeezed the parts down HARD on flat surfaces to seat them as well as possible.
