I bought a few loose Transformers minfigs because I collected TF Gen1 in the early 80s. I had no interest in the sets. Then Joe came out. I started with the checkpoint set, the first Ninja set and wave 1 blind bags.
After that I bought all the sets and wave 2 blind bags. I saved these for x-mas and gave them to myself. I was never a fan of lego growing up. But, my son has really been into lego the last 3 years and that helped too because he has marvel, DC and SW sets and blending in kre-o works for both of us. PS, I bought the star trek sets and also plan on buying the dungeons & dragon minifigs too. |

Just like sonoftimmy, I had not been into legos or even any real toy collecting until I ran into Kreo Joes.
From when I was a kid, I had stopped collecting joes around 88 and then gotten more into comics. I stopped with joe (after they killed cc iirc) and then got into the hero titles. Spidey had like 5 titles at the time, so there was alot to keep me busy. Soon it was the "variant cover" phase of comics that hurt my young wallet. There were also baseball-card like comics cards that were starting to be made. I bought bags and backer boards for all my comics, card sheets for my binders, and even individual cases for all my premium cards. Yes, toys seemed to be a distant memory competeing against the 3d hologram, foil etched, prism laser printed comics collector cards! Then Image comics came out, with Mcfarlane Spawn toys being produced shortly after. Those spawn toys started me as a toy collector again. I literally went to every store (that had them) for over 100 miles to find all the figures i wanted. I had my walls filled with guys like overkill, violator, vampire, werewolf, and all kinds of figures from mcfarlane. After that time my housing situation became unstable, so my collecting subsided for what seemed to be forever this time. Over the years I have occassionally picked up a transformer or two. I think I have a total of five. I had seen some of the Joe stuff, but never really had the urge to collect any of them. That is, until just before this xmas when I discovered Kreo Joe!

I've been into G.I. Joe Kre-o from the beginning. I have a complete set minus the parachute Hit-and-Run from Joe-Con. As soon as I heard about this line I was all in. I never really had much in Lego as a kid and would only pick up the occasional small Star Wars or Castle set as an adult but because these were G.I. Joe and heavily ARAH based with nods to the comics and cartoons I had to get them.
Like others here, Kre-o has now gotten me into Lego (mainly Star Wars and Super Heroes). With little new Joe stuff coming out this year that's were most of my toy money is likely going to go. My boys love both Kre-o and Lego as well which also makes it fun. I'm also increasingly beginning to think that Kre-o/Lego is to now what the action figure was to the '80's--cartoons, movies, games, amount of shelf space devoted to them, popularity with kids, etc. Last edited by HEAT Viper; 02-21-2014 at 01:24 AM.. |

I wish you could just buy the HISS tank by itself. I'd have a couple of those by now if that was the case...

Umm, because I'm big into LEGO and it's JOE and Transformers as minifig scale. JOE and TF is all there was to it.
