That's not really how LEGO is. LEGO does a great job of making recognizable vehicles. You shouldn't have to do anything extra to them unless you just really want to.
More effort could have definitely been put into these sets. The only thing I can say is look at how Star Wars LEGO started, and then look at what it is today. LEGO has advanced quite a bit all around. After a few years, Kreo should be looking pretty good.

LEGO has advanced quite a bit all around. After a few years, Kreo should be looking pretty good. I'm not sure it's a case of "more effort" - as you say, look at the Star Wars sets from the late '90s. Lego's designers didn't just start off making the stuff they do now. And even then, they were drawing upon DECADES of experience. Kreo has a long way to go yet. And yes, Lego is - and always will be - about customization. I'm really not sure how one can argue that, although I do see the collector point of view in terms of wanting official sets and what not for display...

I'm almost certain the Joe Kreo sets were ordered in much lower numbers than Transformers... after all it's only available at TRU. But still, good news. I hope if they keep selling well, Hasbro isn't locked into some kind of agreement to keep it a TRU exclusive...

For the vehicles - we are basically getting the battleship items in different colors which I am okay with initially.
We have several fairly accurate ones though like the RAM, Flight Pod, VAMP and if not the Dragonfly but they revised version as Dragonhawk. |

I wonder if Kreo makes the vehicles and sets the way they do in order to foster creativity to build it the way you want it. And to sell more sets. I know it worked on me.

Kreo just needs some time. I'm excited to see what this line looks like in 5 years. I hope beyond hopes that it is still around, or, if it takes a break, someone continues designing great sets when it comes back.

Not feeling the new wave of figures and vehicles so this is a most excellent distraction. Finally have everything, including blind bags and a few extra Guards and Troopers. Couldn't be happier with the sets and displaying them as part of my collection. Even had my little girl help me assemble them. I will continue to buy these if they continue to make them.
