Bleeding cool have broken the news - Skybound (Image) has the comic book license with Hasbro for Transformers and GI Joe.

The proof is that the Transformers and GI Joe will be making their debut appearance together for Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment in Void Rivals #1, out next week (in stores 14th June).

Void Rivals is a new comic book by Robert Kirkman, Matheus Lopes and Lorenzo De Felici, from Skybound/ Image Comics. The series has been trailed as launching a new shared universe of storytelling. That shared universe, it seems, will contain Transformers and GI Joe.

Apparently Void Rivals #1 doesn't reveal the true nature of the comic until the end of the book.

Void Rivals #1 Cover G (1:100 Copy Incentive) by Daniel Warren Johnson (MAR238219) is listed as a Spoiler Variant, and Skybound will not reveal the cover art until the release of Void Rivals #1 on June 14, 2023 . Apparently this 1:100 variant cover of Void Rivals #1 features both Transformers and GI Joe.

Expect a big announcement at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con (July 20-23). Larry Hama will be going! Given the timing, Spetember 2023 would be likely for a new Transformers #1 or GI Joe #1 comic books from Image Comics for September and GI Joe 301.

Michael Kelly (in charge of Hasbro publishing) has already indicated we should expect GI Joe to continue from Hama, but also another flavour of GI Joe from a different writer.

Excellent! I’ve never read a Skybound title before. I might have to check out Void Rivals next week. But mostly I’m looking forward to whatever is to be announced at SDCC!

Will be interesting that you have Hasbro properties are part of an all new original IP universe that it will share. But I do hope that with Kirkman being behind this new IP and the company being his, that it's gonna keep quality consistent. Even his other series that weren't huge hits like Oblivion Song that he's done are good, they just didn't get mainstream big like some of his other titles, so he's a decent idea man.
