I feel like it and the toyline declined around the same time...all the silly neon figures and stuff. It doesn't start losing steam for me until after issue 100...

Most of the issues after #118 can be ignored, but that could be stretched to #134 if you're into the ninjas, etc. (and good or bad, I do have a lot of nostalgia for the Andrew Wildman era). From #135 onward (i.e. the "Staring: Snake Eyes issues), #143, #144, and #152 are ok to good depending on your tastes. #155 is, of course, a must-read and some of Hama's very best writing.

I first read the classic 1980s GI Joe comics in the IDW Classic GI Joe Trade Paper Backs. This is the reading order I would suggest: IDW Classic GI Joe Volume 2 (issues #11 - #20): ![]() IDW Classic GI Joe Volume 3 (#21 - #30): ![]() IDW Classic GI Joe Volume 4 (#31 - #40): ![]() IDW Classic GI Joe Volume 5 (#41 - 50): ![]() IDW Classic GI Joe Volume 6 (#51 - 60): ![]() For me, the saga really kicked into high gear, and hooked me, with issues #11 to #20 (Volume 2), with the longer, more ambitious multi-issue story arcs. Issues #1 to #10 are mostly one-off stories, which you can go back and read as back-story, after you finish reading Volume 6.
