ARAH was my only comic subscription, and I was wondering if anybody had suggestions for a new monthly book? Probably a war or crime book, or maybe a licensed book like Star Trek, Transformers, Bond or Star Wars? Twenty years ago I liked Batman, Avengers and X-men, but I think I'd be lost now.
Also, I've read and like Dixon's run and Gage/Costa COBRA, and I plan to pick up the trades of Traviss and Aallor runs. Thoughts on those? Any other one shots or Joe books that came out 2010-ish on? I also remember liking Reloaded, and will prob put that on my reading list too. Thanks in advance! |

I'm selling all my G.I. Joe books. I have all the Dixon/Costa/Van Lente/Travis trades. All the Disavowed and America's Elite trades. The Last Laugh hardcover. I also have all the issues for Reloaded. And other miscellaneous books. PM me if you're interested.

If you can find it Wally Wood's M.A.R.S. Patrol Total War is an interesting read. The Marine Attack Rescue Service is basically the 60s version of GI Joe. Larry Hamma was Wally Woods assistant and the the influence of this Comic on GI Joe is fascinating. Sadly Gold Key Comics is long gone and the last trade reprint was almost 20 years ago by Dark Horse and it was only a few issues. I think the only way to read it currently is online via scans or get lucky at a comic shop in the bins.
If you want more Larry Hamma War comics the Nam is good read and should be available in Trade paper backs and on various Digital comics platforms. I can't think of any current comics with the G I Joe feel. |

Mine, too. That said, I have a Comixology Unlimited subscription for my kids that I check out every now and then. I'm currently reading the old Secret Wars limited series for the first time as I love that era and I love Mike Zeck's pencils. That should tide me over until #301, assuming we'll see it sooner rather than later.

Image has a new book called Junkyard Joe. I read the first issue, which takes place in Nam, and it was great.

I have several completely non-biased recommendations.
The Action Force: Mission Files Comics. This will lead perfectly into the Action Force novel that will come out in a few weeks. Marauder Task Force: Wrath The Joy of JoeCon The Joy of Joe Like I said, all of these are completely unbiased and objective recommendations (seriously, though, I think you will like them if you liked Hama's stuff). |
