I have been a fan of transformers almost as long as I have been a fan of G.I. Joe. when I found out about the crossovers between Transformers and G.I. Joe I was thrilled. In fact the first G.I. AND the first transformers comic I ever read was Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #0 by Tom Scoli iIn all honesty this was not a good way to be introduce to either comic franchise). I thought I would take a poll and see which crossover people liked best.

At the time I hated it, but probably the 4 issue mini series…the one showing Bumblebee blown up by the Mobat (?) on one of the covers, explaining how he was resurrected as Gold Bug.

It takes accepting that it is not a serious comic, but if you can do that the Scoli run is absolutely ridiculous fun. It's not for everyone though, I didn't like it at first and dropped it after the 1st issue, but gave it another chance around halfway through thanks to a Free Comic Book Day issue and loved it the 2nd time around.
I also enjoy the DD/Image run, especially since they manage to create a whole storyline across all the mini-series that wraps up with a nice definte end, and we get to see Colton being epic.

Hands down the Tom Scioli comic for me. That is one of the most batshit crazy, fun, insane comics I've ever read.

AND it does it all while showing massive reverence to the early Marvel GiJoe comics. Soft Master shows up, Dr. Venom is a primary villain. We get a modified origin for Snake-Eyes (he is a Duke look-a-like before the accident which actually was true before and we just didn't realize it), and the stakes just get weirder and weirder. Eventually Cobra-La becomes a problem and the Earth is destroyed, leaving the Joes alive as the last of humanity on Cybertron, trying to avenge the population of Earth against the Deceptions.

Runner-up for me is the Jae Lee DreamWorks comic. His art is so ephemeral and haunting. The robots are scary. That robot dog is terrifying. The WW2 backdrop reimagines all the Transformers as janky old tanks and jeeps and prop planes.

Dreamwave, by damned far. It was, without a doubt, one of the best, most creative, most artistic, and most respectful to the subject matter (both the brands and WWII) that I have every read.

It is, without hyperbole, my favorite single book (since it was essentially just the one series).
