I think I know what you mean, but can you elaborate? I liked the cover with Cobra Commander's insane scribbles; I love when comics have that kind of detail and I can just spend a few minutes looking at it. I took it more as an exaggeration though (like sometimes covers which only portray a scene from the book which is 80% in there), or maybe CC in his downtime having some fun doodling...but if it comes across as the way his normal mind works, I can see why you wouldn't like it. I would also like to see the Commander portrayed as much more of a worthy adversary for the Joes.

Agreed. It's a terrible cover for any issue, but to do this to the penultimate issue is embarrassing.

I'd rather get a reboot every year than have a story that overstays it's welcome for nearly 300 issues (maybe I should post this in the hot takes thread).

Hama has expressed a lot of disdain for Trump on Facebook. I wonder if he’s now writing Cobra Commander as a caricature of the former president. If so, I think it’s a mistake. I’d rather he be inspired by a fictional villain like Lex Luther or Darth Vader or Hans Gruber.

I doubt that Larry had any involvement in the cover. He hasn't been doing the cover prelims for a long while. I would expect this was between Waltz and Gallant and completed long in advance of knowing what was happening in the issue.

Personally I think it's fun and different and instantly very memorable.
