I'd buy that comic. Especially if it picked up after "Into Your Tent I Will Silently Creep" instead of the movie. The aftermath of Cobra returning to Cobra Commander and rebelling against Serpentor would make for some fun reading.
Or ARAH can shift gears back to these kinds of stories. Shoening is a perfect fit for either.

I logged in for the first time in a long time just to say how great this issue was. The art is incredible and I hope this artist stays on for the long haul. The story was good, and Mr. Hama used the characters in a great way, as usual. Low-Light's sniper shots were awesome and something we haven't seen from him in a long, long time. This issue had almost all the magic it had as a kid reading these comics. Loved it!

I don't see Dan Schoening's name on any upcoming issues. Too bad--I hope he'll be back at some point. He and Netho Diaz are easily my two favorites from the IDW run so it would be a bummer if we only got one issue from him. The next arc, that begins with #281, features art from Andrew Griffith and a questionable plot. I checked out some of Griffith's other work and let's just say if I can't say anything nice, I won't say anything at all...

Maybe Schoening will be "back due to popular demand." Everybody write the editors.

This really was a good issue all around. Except the laser fire was a mistake which took me out of the story.

The Talking Joe discussion of ARAH is up!

See our video on Youtube, or all the Podcast links at https://www.talkingjoe.co.uk/

Mark and Tim are joined by special guest “Dapper” Dan Schoening, the artist of this issue. We talk about his job at Toys R Us, his background in animation and the process of working on this issue. Our chat covers the “animation style” art in this issue, whether all Cobra Pilots are a$$holes, Snow Serpents and even how the snow was drawn!

Dan says that he's not lined up for another issue yet, but would like to make a return. If the readers ask for it, I guess that would make it more likely!

I'm halfway through Talking Joe. Great interview with Schoening. Really good questions. Funny, when I read #278 I wasn't comparing his style to the 80's cartoon but rather the drawing style that was ubiquitous during the 70's and 80's and, more specifically, Rod Whigham/Andy Mushynski's work on ARAH. Great podcast. Thanks for posting.

I can't get over how much I enjoyed #278 and I really hope Tom Waltz is getting good feedback so we can get more issues like this one. I don't just want one more issue with Shoening. I want him to carry us through to #300 and beyond!

Agreed. And more of that kind of story: One-shots where Joes and Cobras utilize their unique skills. An element from the story can continue forward, but the specific battle is started and wrapped up in one issue.
