Ok, so everyone has probably come across a fresh case of figures either on the pegs or in the box where it's quite obvious it was dropped or accidentally crushed a little bit during shipping.. This is understandable and typically I don't mind if the corner of a joe's card is crushed/folded a little bit, especially if I'm going to be opening it. (continued below)

But over the past 4 years, since I've been fully invested in hunting and collecting modern-era joe figures, I've come across figures that you just KNOW could not have possibly been bent accidentally- I've discussed it with other collectors and apparently the belief is that there are people out there that enjoy deliberately f*cking up figures! I've occasionally seen forcibly folded, bent, and torn cards as well as crushed or obviously stepped-on blister bubbles- Could someone really be so mean/angry that they need to deface merchandise or ruin it for others? What is to gain from this? I've heard claims that these people are just trying to take what they want and then arrogantly ruin the condition of things for others, perhaps for some perverse satisfaction. What do you guys think?
Doctor Cardbender is at large! We must stop him!

People call it "Dog Earring." I've heard that people do it to prevent scalpels from re-selling them. That's the closest thing to an explanation I've heard.

Hmm, very interesting- I never thought about it from that angle...

It's still stupid no matter what the reasoning, because it still ruins it for the MOC collectors.

Found my first instance of this today. There was 3/4 of a case of Star Wars Wave 9 (Revenge cards with Ponda, EBT, and Bastila) on the pegs and every single one of them were forceably bent in 2 spots - along the peg hole and along the top fo the bubble. Frikken cards were alomst in the shape of a "W." Yet figures from previous waves were prestine. Lucky for me I'm am MOC collector but if I wasn't and this was my only find, I'd be pissed.

Instead of buying every figure people are looking for, I'm going to bend every figure people are looking for. I'm going to hunt and bend like never before seen. Quoth the bender, nevermore.
