The last time I cried was three years ago when I buried the best friend I've ever had in his favorite corner of the back yard. There was just a steady stream of tears while I was digging, but I fell to my knees and wailed when my wife placed his bowl and favorite toy in with him.
I had a very similar situation. Some people get it, but for those that don't, it's a very hard thing. Mine happened over 10 yrs ago now and I can still feel my heart in my stomach if I think back and dwell on it. |

and Six Feet Under.
I'm sure the American Beauty - Alan Ball - Six Feet Under connection has something to do with it. It's the theme music that plays on those episodes that end on a low note. Not that American Beauty ended on an up note... We'll just assume it's not -your- sense of humor. Oh, and I'm doing fine. Thanks for asking. |

All this dog talk...
Last summer I was doing a delivery into the hood where they were building a store. Right next to the building was a small chainlink fence with a tight alley and the fence was connected to a cleaners. It was 12 noon and almost 100 degrees. Just disgustingly hot. I parked my truck and got out, and noticed a dog whose tongue was about 2 feet long and his snout sticking out of the fence when I walked by. Just a little mutt that looked like 1/2 Chow or something, and a really good looking dog. The guys came out to get their building supplies and I asked if they knew anything about the dog. They didn't. That was the 1st thing that got me angry...the dog is in a 2 ft wide alley, no bowls, no water, with the sun beating down on it and no one even cared when I pointed it out. It was such a friendly pup, I went back to my truck and got water out, stuck it through the fence and he drank. So I went into the cleaners where there was an older Asian woman watching TV. I said "Is that your dog?" and she said in very broken English "Yes, he name is Max" So I said "You don't have any water or shade for him?" and no fooling here, I was already pissed and speaking in a pretty stern tone. She actually laughed and said "He like it"--If I told you that for a split second I didn't see myself pile driving her into the TV screen and spitting on her when I left...I'd be lying. So I said "Give me a bowl and fill it with water" and she did but I could see she was pissed, we went outside and he was the FRIENDLIEST dog ever and so damn happy to have that water. She turned and goes "Its my dog not yours." I just said "Ok" and left. I got back to the shop, googled Paterson NJ Health Dept and told them the situation. I then called my uncle who is a major animal guy and contributes ALOT to shelters and stuff and asked him if I went down there with bolt cutters would he take the dog. That stupid old bitch has no business taking care of a dog. He talked me out of that, but he did call his friend who confirmed with me ASAP and is a Lt in a neighboring PD and that guy talked to a few Paterson cops. I went down there 2 more times and didn't see the dog. I hope it either wound up in a better home, or the town hit her with a fine and it was inside in the AC. Fucking people with pets, if you think you're an asshole not fit to take care of an animal then don't! Last edited by PitViper; 03-30-2011 at 10:26 PM.. |
