For under $600!?!?! Good luck with that. Seriously.
I know a little about PC's: Have built a few, taken apart many, swapped parts in dozens and fixed a few dozen. The one you link to is OK, but it only has 4gb and NO open slots to add to it. YOURE SCREWED if you want to upgrade. Im guessing thats a MAJOR reason its so cheap. Good and inexpensive dont often go hand-in-hand. For under $600, youre going to get something OK. Something you probably cant upgrade at a later date, and thats why it will be inexpensive. Ive been shopping around for a PC/PC parts to build my own for the past year. After pricing out everything I needed/wanted for my business (photo/video editing and web development) I finally had HP custom build one for me. It was $1500 BUT the parts alone would have cost me $2500 pricing them through NewEgg mostly. Your budget is the number one priority usually, so youre probably going to have to bend for it. BUT, if you dont want to upgrade in a year or two, or if you dont want to be running slow out of the box, 4gb today isnt much, and the CPU (AMD ATHLON II X4 640 3.0GHz processor) is a budget processor designed for general everyday tasks, not high-end gaming. The graphics card isnt top of the line either. It all depends man, it all depends. Like I said, its budget number 1 usually, then a list of priorities. Get the most expandable tower you can (i.e., add on ram) and if you need to swap out parts down the road (graphics card, CPU, etc.) you can do it cheap. Make sure its got HDMI out especially, because lets face it, HDTV is here and you dont want to be playing on a VGA monitor. |

Heres the thing, PC sales are on all the time, MANY different web sites, MANY MORE different prices.
What I had built: - AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2GHz 6 core processor - 12GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [4 DIMMs] (can put another 4 in it to max at 16GB) - 1.5TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s HD - 2TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s HD - Windows 7 64-bit Premium - ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter] - Blu-ray writer & Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD burner - Wireless-N LAN card - 15-in-1 memory card reader, 1 USB, 1394, audio, video (for TV Tuner), with USB 3.0 card - Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 Media Center Kit Dual TV Tuner 1213 PCI-Express x1 Interface - HP wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse - HP 2509m 25" Diagonal Full 1080p HD Widescreen 16:9 LCD Monitor Price out that stuff and see what it comes to, youd be SHOCKED! I paid $1509.98 total because I waited for super specials and THEN added coupons to it. Regular price was like $2329.98. I want to add more RAM and a better graphics card, but those are things that can wait, and I MADE SURE they could be upgraded later. Another $400-$500 and Ill have $2K into it and PC that will be great for the next 10 years or more. Like I said originally, you need to stay within a budget more than likely. So, in that budget there are probably things you need and want. Make a list of the 2 and make priorities. Also, if its a gaming PC Im SURE you dont need it yesterday, so price stuff out, put $10-$20 bucks a week extra away and shop around. Get the best bang for your buck. Be sure its what you want, be sure its what you can afford, pull the trigger and dont look back. Impulse purchases or uneducated purchases are the worst. Asking on the forum isnt bad, but you mine as well be asking "Hey, what car should I get, I need to know NOW!" Know what I mean? |
