One other thing I forgot to mention, is that your supervisor is probably threatened by you because you probably know more about his job than he does. He's probably threatened because of your experience and the fact that you are a good hard worker. So, he demotes you and discourages you from trying to get ahead because he feels threatened by you. Like maybe you would take his job. Just a guess, but I've seen it before.
I want to thank everyone for the very solid advice. Back in the good days of life when i lived out of a duffel bag i would of walked off by now but you advice is greatly helped me in making the right decision. |

We die young in my family. Mom died when i was 13 and dad when i was 16. Its pretty standard to drop before 50 in my family
The owner of the company loves this guy. I have watch em blow hundreds of thousands of dollars on scotties bad ideas and yet they still treat him like gold. I want to thank everyone for the very solid advice. Back in the good days of life when i lived out of a duffel bag i would of walked off by now but you advice is greatly helped me in making the right decision. As far as the job goes, just keep at it and I'm sure something will come along. Things can't be this bad forever, but until the job market improves we're all going to have to put up with a little more bull shit than we'd like. |

This isn't a piss and moan thread so don't take it as such.
Been with the same company for 9 years was the first employee that was hired when the moved to this town. The job keeps me busy and has a lot of stress but it works for me since i work better with a heavy work load. Sadly its turned into a dead end job since the hiring of scottie the new factory supervisor. It wouldn't be so bad if he knew what he was doing and didn't belittle people in a attempt to control them which he admits to doing in attempt to put people in their place and gain control over them. I was told friday by scottie that i was way over paid for what i do and to never expect to go any further in the company and was demoted to working in the pit with the illegal immigrants starting monday. In 9 years i have only taken 9 days of vacation and had 2 sick days. one for a outpatient surgery and the other other was a diabetic black out or coma if you wanna call it that. On the few vacation days Ive taken it takes 2 men half my age to keep up with my work load so what are they gaining by sending me to the pit i will never know. Every one that does real work not office works does not want my job they say its to much work. I have worked with a broken foot, dislocated disk, concussions, pissed blood for a year before getting surgery done to fix that problem, driven a cdl truck all over Kentucky without the proper license with twice the load limit for the truck for years. The thing that scares me the most is for the last 20 years i have been a good law bidding citizen and followed all the rules that society says i must follow to be a good person. The last few months i been having really violent dreams about killing scottie that make me feel happy when i wake up from em. I have never killed anyone but was extremely violent till i was 19. I know i need to quit because of the dreams but I'm gonna be 39 monday and scared to death of starting over at this point in life. I might have 10 good years before cancer, stress or diabetes takes me and i don't want to spend it here anymore. I don't know what else to say i guess i needed to vent somewhere sorry. If any of the things i have said concern any mods or staff of hisstank I'm sorry and will accept being banned and all other consquences Sounds like a good reason for starting a union. By the by, cancer, stress and death are going to take you anyways. |

Dude, if you're diabetic, don't quit. Meds can be expensive! You need the insurance or you might not make it to 40. Most of us work in dead-end jobs, so don't base your displaeasure on that. There's nothing wrong with that. I actually asked for a demotion at my job over a year ago and have been happier ever since. I would contact the HR department, if there is one, and if not, talk to the owner. If you only have positive reviews from years past, you might be able to make a case with the HR department. They might also be trying to simply get rid of you since you likely get paid more than anyone else. It sucks, but it happens all the time. It costs them less to have you quit than for them to fire you. If you live in KY, look into working at an Optical Manufacturing lab. There are several, depending on where you live. You could work for Carl Zeiss or one of the several other labs. The pay is ok (I don't know what you're getting right now) and the job is secure.
You also might want to have a talk with Scottie. Simply say to him that you know your job well and that you want to help him and the company be successful. That you don't care about the bullshit, but if dude wants to be successful there, he needs you. Or if you wanna fuck the company over, just call them in on the Illegal thing. |

I say start looking. If something actually better comes along, and eventually it will, given the way you are being treated, then go for it. It's likely going to take time, though.
Until then, go in, punch the clock, and leave your troubles at the door each day when you leave. This guy just turned your career into a job. That means that you no longer sacrifice ANYTHING for their benefit without compensation. Go in, do the job you are paid to do, and go home. That's all. They have made it clear you have no room to advance, so you now have no vested interest in sacrificing of yourself for the benefit of your employer. Now you need to do the job you are paid to do, and use your free time, and energy to find a means of providing for yourself that gives you room to grow and succeed.

Have you ever actually worked in a Union Shop, Joseph? I can tell you as someone who was sold out by the Teamsters just last week that a Union wouldn't benefit someone who actually works at all. All it does is allow others to benefit from the hard work you are willing to do. I spent 11 years paying fat, crooked, socialist pigs to rollover at every turn to keep the money flowing into their pockets while trading away the terms of the contract they themselves "worked" for. I spent 11 goddamn years on the graveyard shift while lazy and incompetent senior workers slacked off all day knowing I would have to come in and get their slack, and when it came time to negotiate for a raise, these same lazy sacks of crap got the same raise, for actually harming the operation as I did, for trying to get the job done. Unions help the lazy, and fill the pockets of filthy, corrupt, conmen.
