I actually really dig the 883's. They're everything I'd want if I were to ever own a bike again. When it comes to vehicles I'm very utilitarian. The IRON 883 is everything I'd need, and nothing I don't.

Well said dude. You sound like a true HD enthusiast and not some yuppie wannabe biker.
I love alot of different bikes, I started with MX and you're 100% right about the sport bike crowd...alot of that stuff is flash and straight up jackassery. A small percentage of the guys (like me) that had one actually appreciated the bike for itself and took it to the track Weds nights and Sat mornings to "push it". Anyway man, congrats with your bike and if you need any info let me know I may be able to help. -Easy Maintenance -Modification potential -Good bike for a new-ish rider (Had a dirt bike about a dozen years ago) -Price Point -Looks awesome -Harley, for family reasons. |

If you haven't ridden in awhile and need to get your skills up I would say it's a great bike. The maintenance is pretty basic stuff. One thing I can remember is alot of carbon build up, fouled out plugs and nasty carbs..but thats generally from NEVER opening it up and allowing it to flow freely and do some "self cleaning". That would happen alot with new riders..."I keep fouling out plugs"..probably because you havent gotten out of 3rd gear in 5 yrs. I'm a pretty big fan of the VRSC stuff...if it was any cooler I'd set my head on fire and chase down criminals with big chain! |

My next bike will be a Harley - but I've sat on this bike at the dealership, and it's a little small for my 6'0" frame. But as for looks and basic bas-ass look it's pure win. |

I've been checking these out pretty regularly - the Harley Forty-Eight - if they weren't going $10,500 right now I'd have on in a heart beat. |

At 6'0" I am about at the upper limit for getting on a Sportster and not looking like a complete goon. |

To comment on the Crotch Rocket debate, aside from those things not being my style, I simply do not like some of the culture associated with them. Not that EVERY crotch rocket rider is an idiot tool, but a significant number of them annoy me. I don't like people who buy something based on illegal stuff you can do with it (race on the interstate). |
