You ever notice during toy fair, the person displaying all the action features of the new vehicle or toy has no idea how to handle it and keeps fobbing about for something to actually happen? I watch every year on the videos displaying SW and Joe vehicles and it never ceases to amaze me that the people that are making the toys, dont know how to handle the toy or didnt bother reading the instructions. It just makes for a craptacular display of upper management arrogance because they want to be on camera. I wonder if we should tell them that it makes the toy look like shit too?

That's because it's never the people actually making the toys who are presenting at Toy Fair. 9 times out of 10 it's the marketing folks or the PR folks.
Most of the interaction at Toy Fair is talking, not doing, so companies would prefer the communications folks be there instead of the designing folks. It has absolutely nothing to do with "arrogance" or wanting to be on camera. On top of all of this, many times the item they're trying to operate is a prototype and may not even be totally functional. |

Okay, so you are telling me that its a prototype and it may not work well. that's fine, but it sure looks like somebody screwed the pooch. If you are selling a product, you should at least be familiar with it as well as test it out before showing it on camera. As far as arrogance goes, those above want to shine, memorizing a quickie 3x5 information card doesnt cut it when you are trying to sell product to retailers. you should have malfunctions if you had checked out the toy prior to showing it. Arrogance may have been to strong a word I grant you, but why not let the folks that designed it, show it off. Unclassified wouldnt take the whole truck...just a few samples that may have fallen....
