A few months ago, I sold a DCUC BAF Kilowog. I get a message from the buyer after he/she gets it telling me that the box was shredded (their words) and that figure was missing pieces. They then proceed to ask me what I'm going to do about it. I told them to take it up with the Post Office b/c I didn't send a shredded box (it was an unused priority mail flat rate box) and the figure was shipped complete. Of course, I didn't get insurance on it, b/c honestly I've never had a single issue out of the hundreds, if not over a thousand, items that I've shipped and received through USPS.
So, I go ahead and check the guy's feedback after sending the message and he has 11 with no negative. Now this is the part that pisses me off about feedback now; 3 out of the 11 were messages left by a seller saying, "Bidder Blocked". Sellers should be able to leave negative feedback just like the buyer is able to. A seller shouldn't have to resort to those tactics in order to try and warn other sellers about a bad bidder! I contacted the seller that left the ''Banned Bidder''. I didn't mention what the buyer had told me in the message, but went ahead asked him why he had left that feedback. He told me how the buyer had done something very similar to him. So, I told him why I had contacted and how the buyer was trying to do something very similar to me. After communicating with that seller, I contacted ebay concerning the buyer and the situation. Of course, they pretty just said, ''Okay.'', and didn't investigate the buyer or anything. Well, the dude ends up opening a case against me. I escalated it to a claim and explained why to ebay. Ebay sided with the buyer within 5 minutes of me escalating it to a claim! So, they put a hold on the money in the amount of the transaction in my PayPal account until I received the figure, at least what was left of him. Well, 10 days passed and the dude hadn't even shipped him. So, ebay gave me the money back and it all ended in my favor, but it was such a hassle! B/c of this incident, I include insurance in the cost of shipping and handling in any and all of my auctions, I don't ship outside the US, and I don't sell to new ebayers. |

The whole chargeback thing made me stop selling on ebay entirely. I would send the item, would get a "nondelivery notice" or "damage claim" or some other BS would dig up and find the shipping numbers ect. If there was any complications from the post office it really got messy. Anyway the "slow pace" of dealling with the issue eventually effected my ablity to ship on time for my other auctions. Eventually I just quit selling, got the remainder of my sales out and hung it up. Not doing it again.

I don't really like selling on ebay. However I have tons of stuff I need to get rid of. Long story short it is just time for me to move on from collecting in a massive scale. I cannot tell you how many people send me messages asking me to send internationally and to claim only half the amount on the customs forms. It clearly states in every one of my auctions that I DO NOT SHIP INTERNATIONALLY....
Other pet peev as of late has been people asking me for shipping quotes on 1 item.... Ummmm see the spot below shipping information.... You konw the one that tells you how much it costs.... :rolls eyes: The feedback really agitates me as well. I have sold close to 100 auctions in the past month and I have only recieved feedback for about 60% of them. I was going to put something in my listings about 'feedback will be left after recieved' however even if I do I'm sure it wouldn't help. lol Haven't been black mailed ... yet.

I notice people on this site almost bragging about doing what youre complaining about. I know its a huge problem, but I dont seel many Joes on the bay because of that. I think there are certain things youll get into that youll find a lot of buyers like that. Im in the fly fishing business and sell a lot of feathers, books, magazine, tools, etc., on ebay and NEVER have problems with my customers doing this, but I see it here all the time. Its a joke that ebay forces returns yet has it set up to select if you accept returns or not, and sellers are bent over by buyers. I think buyers should be protected, but its too much on there now.
The thing I hate is your last sentence: I CONSTANTLY get no feedback from the so called "power sellers" who are supposedly "set up" to leave "automatic feedback" once its "been left for them.". BULLSHIT!!! That right there is extortion. As a buyer and seller I leave feedback once someone has completed their end of the deal, i.e., if you guy from me I leave it when you pay, and if I buy from you I expect the same. I refuse to leave feedback for sellers first anymore. I bet Ive been scammed on 100 feedbacks at least. Now I send an email, "The item arrived, looks great, thanks for the fast shipping, etc., etc., I appreciate feedback and Ill do the same, thanks." When I get the response about leaving it first, I respond with "Thanks, I wont be leaving it". Maybe thats a little much, but I will not be forced to leave feedback in HOPES of receiving it, ESPECIALLY from guys with thousands of feedbacks. They dont need anymore, they dont care. Quote:
I feel sorry for you guys because that isn't right. I am a powerseller on eBay and I leave feedback for EVERY buyer when I ship the items. It's a piece of cake to do now because of the mass email and feedback options that are presented on our pages so it's just those sellers being lazy or don't care and neither is right. I print the postage, email the standard "package has been shipped" to each buyer at the same time, leave mass feedback and it's all done in like 3 clicks of a mouse. If I don't get feedback in return from the buyer within a month, I use the mass "feedback reminder" email to send out to everybody I sold items to and usually they will reply with feedback.

I don't leave feedback for my buyer until I receive it. That way, once I receive it, I know they got the package and the transaction can be closed out. All you have to do it look at a person's feedback left for others to see what kind of practice they have about leaving it. Feedback is important to me but I have been stiffed so many times on both ends it's not even funny. I have had people leabe feedback then try to pull a fast one. That's the main reason I ask that they leave it first.
IMO, the buyer needs to leave feedback first. They are the customer and the seller cannot possibly form an opinion on the transaction until he knows if the customer was satisfied or not. Keep in mind that a buyer has 90 days to try to do a charge-back with their credit card company. So, if a buyer doesn't leave feedback then the seller has no clue as to whether the seller will try to pull shenanigans until the 90 days are over. It would be premature to leave feedback any sooner than that. |

The thing that I really hate about ebay is the way they've made it easy for some scammers (primarily buyers) to ruin it for the rest of us. I've been using ebay for over 6 years now and really haven't had many complaints about any of the sellers I buy from. People who complain about the condition of the item(s) they get are mostly idiots who didn't read the item description or look at the pictures to begin with.
I've never had a problem with items I've gotten. Sure some of the boxes are in rough shape when they arrive sometimes, but the item is pretty much always as described. I've never bothered a seller about what "they" were going to do just because I didn't like what I bought or thought I could scam a few bucks back. The only time I've taken up issue is when I never recieved items to begin with, an in those cases (both times) the sellers ended up getting banned from ebay for doing the same thing multiple times. And on feedback, as a buyer I only leave feedback for sellers that have already left it for me. Once I've completed my part of the transaction there's no reason a seller can't leave feedback for me, and if they do, they'll get some back from me. |

You make it seem like once you have paid it's a done deal as if the money has changed hands and cannot be undone. That is not the case as the buyer can get out of paying by creating some false issues in an attempt to get their money back. Thus becoming a problem buyer and worthy of being warned about to others. |

See sharky's post above yours. He makes the argument better than I could have.
