Great band. I loved the song Rot. An old band of mine covered that, but we changed the lyrics to the Spice Girls - Wannabe (really, listen to the song it fits)

Hatebreed is cool, my band actually pulled alot of influence from them in the early days.
They just keep kinda releasing the same album...same could be said for Madball, but to me Madball "IS" NYHC and anything that sounds like Hatebreed wouldnt...if it werent for Madball. So yeah...Madball. |

I actually cant believe someone had the balls (well, actually SHE didnt technically) to say Dimebag is overrated. I really liked the first 2 Pantera albums, but I was also young and they were new, different and hardcore. After that, I thought they sucked. And yeah, Dime is overrated big time, but its one of those things where someone dies and everyone pays their dues......over and over and over and over and over. Its like NASCAR: Dale Sr. was the most hated, dirty driver there ever was, but he died and now people talk about him like he was Jesus Christ and could do now wrong, was the best ever, always loved him, etc. Just how it is.
Metal has so many genres & styles that I think its one of the most diverse types of music out there and its why I really like "metal". When I first got into metal it was 1985 and my cousins all listened to Ozzy, Quioet Riot, Twisted Sister, Metallica, AC/DC, Priest, Rainbow, Dio, Alice Cooper, KISS and Van Halen. Back then (late 70's, early 80's) those bands were considered metal. My cousin tells me about when he started listening to KISS (1975) and his parents, along with many others, considered them satanic and said KISS stood for "Knights In Satans Service". I always laugh and say, "Their songs were all love songs!". Times change. On my 8th birthday I got Bark at the Moon, Mental Health & Stay Hungry as presents. My grandparents were NOT happy, because that stuff was Satanic too. That was the beginning of my metal obsession. Personally, when AC/DC & Priest were huge and "the metal heads" at school were wearing those shirts, I was listening to and wearing Maiden, Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Primus, Sepultura & Slayer and being called a Satanist. Today, 20 something years later, I still listen to a lot of those bands. I wonder how people consider Priest & AC/DC to be metal. To me, they are rock and roll, thats it (and I think Priest and post-Bon AC/DC suck). But, I consider Sound Garden, Pearl Jam & Alice in Chains to be alternative metal, so I dont know. I listen to so much stuff it all blurs together. I really like loud, nasty, dirty, hardcore music that I can rock out to, and I put so many different bands in the metal category when they might be punk, progressive, grunge or alternative that I dont know if "metal" is easily defined. It just depends on the mood, the day, the weather, what Im doing or whatever. Metal is such a big, diverse group of music and thats one thing I really like about it. No other genre is like metal. If I can headbang to it, its metal in my book. Last edited by bigvig; 01-25-2011 at 02:32 PM.. |

I like Bury Your Dead ,when Mat was still on vocals, I love most of the songs on Cover Your Tracks. Static X had a few good songs, plus at some point in my life I want to grow my hair like Wayne Static. Pantera has some good songs also. I'm going to also mention old school Ministry, Filth Pig era. Also I'm probably going to catch hell for this, but I also like As I Lay Dying, also like Times side project Austrian Death Machine. Also Soul Fly, can't forget them, not sure if you would classify Deftones as metal, but sometimes they are, so I listed them.
