rafael palmeiro only got 11% of the vote to get into the hall this year, and he only failed one drug test. and there's so much more evidence against clemens that he might never get in. i could almost see the veterans committee feeling bad for palmeiro and voting him in after his 15 years are up on the ballot, but not clemens. there's just so much bad press on him and bonds that i don't think they'll ever clear there names.

The HOF is bullshit anyway, but yes, he IS a Hall of Famer for sure. Whether he gets in or not is another argument, but if it werent for the BS that is our congress (wont go any further because the thread will get shut down) none of this would of happened and there wouldnt be this discussion. Greatest pitcher ever, he deserves to get in. But then again, so does Pete Rose and they probably wont ever put him in. At least not in the next 100+ years JUST to make an example out of him.
And for anyone interested in this sort of thing, watch "Bigger, Stronger, Faster". It will put the steroid thing into perspective FAST! Ive done them with and without a prescription. They shouldnt be illegal at all. They give guys cortisone shots DURING games for christs sake! Last edited by bigvig; 01-10-2011 at 10:53 AM.. |

McGuire wasnt the best ever at his position though. BIG difference. And, who's to say McGuire wont eventually get in?
The thing that bothers me is, like I said, they shoot cortisone during the friggin' games for chists sake! ITS A STEROID! IT ENHANCES YOUR PERFORMANCE!!!!! What the hell is so wrong with the league that they dont get that!?!?! And how many guys juiced that we'll never know about and WILL get in?! LOTS is my guess. You cant keep guys out simply because they PROBABYL did it. If they didnt test positive and no hard evidence ever came out (i.e., a video of them doing it) then we cant continue this witch hunt. PS: Id bet my house that McGuire did roids for a LONG time, and Clemens probably did a few too, but in all honesty I dont care. Under the leagues rules at the times, they never tested positive. DROP IT league, DROP IT congress. Its bullshit!!!!! |

Is it a rule that you can't do steroids in the league? If so, then he should never get in. period. he knowingly and willingly broke league rules. But, even if it was ok with the league, it's still illegal without a prescription. It would be like busting him with crack. So, either way it's behavior which should bounce him out imo.

Ahh, Ive been waiting for the slippery slope crew.
If you want to keep him out of the hall because he did something illegal, there are PLENTY of guys who do stuff thats illegal. Where is the line drawn and why? What are the rules of getting into the HOF? If a guy tests positive ONCE for anything, is he now ineligible for life? DID Clemens, in fact, do steroids!? Id like to know what kind of "proof" is needed to determine that he did. He NEVER failed a drug test to my knowledge, thats good enough for me. Same with McGuire. Yes, I know he basically confessed. He basically confessed when he refused to answer questions at the congressional hearing. They asked him if he was taking the 5th and he looked like he was shitting in his pants. If someone wants to come out and admit they did it, SHOULD that keep them out of the HOF? I dont know. Personally Im of the group who believes baseball is entertainment, nothing more. Its no different for me than WWF, so who cares if they juice. It has no real meaning in "real life" so really, who gives a shit? I know people do, how and why is beyond me. You cant argue that when Big Mac and Sosa were having their home-run battle it enthralled the country basically. It brought the game back. So, if those guys juiced (which I believe they did) who really cares? It brought a nation back to baseball and gave people something to talk about. A way for people to get together, be together, have common ground and thats far more important than the game itself. If, for one second, anyone believes that NOBODY juiced before them, or did anything illegal before them, theyre diluting themselves. Do people REALLY care if guys juiced? Those guys werent playing ball because they juiced, they were juicing to make themselves bigger. Doing roids DOESNT make you a better ball player. Sure, it might have helped them hit the ball further, but they still had to hit it and the juice DIDNT help them do that. I guess I just dont think it has a big an impact as people make it out to. Pitchers used to load the ball, guys have done drugs & other illegal things for decades. Does it ruin the integrity of baseball? Not in my opinion. Its entertainment, thats all. What bearing on life does it have other than entertainment? What Sosa, McGuire & Bonds did was entertaining. It captivated a country, brought millions of people great entertainment and gave people something to relate to one another with. Beyond that, what more do you want? Im telling you, if anyone cares this much about it, watch "Bigger, Stronger, Faster". It will put it into perspective. Last edited by bigvig; 01-13-2011 at 01:30 PM.. |
