Ok this is on my small pet peve list.
Smokers who collect. I buy these lots, i get them shipped. I open the box and am immediately hit with a strong tobbacco smoke blast. it gets on my fingers as i sort the bags to make sure its all there. Then I have to let the box air out for a day or two before I can start really sorting it. Its an annoyance. seriously. does it not dawn on people that maybe if you are smoking while packing that the smell goes with the product? it however for the most part goes away on its own when its alowed to air out but its still annoying and stinky :(. ok end rant

I hate the lots you get that look like they just came out of someones back yard battle, we're talking caked sand, mud and god knows what in weird places.

I'm a kinda-sorta smoker (I quit/restart every 6 months, it seems), but I keep my comics, Joes and TFs WAY away from my smoking. I can't stand second-hand smoke or that old-smoke smell either!

Yeah, I can understand dust build up but clean the mud and sand outta your toys before you sell them. Though I did find a small spider nest in my rolling thunder. Glad I opened it up to wash it out.
Smoke smell doesn't bother me. |

Secret:
Fill sink with warm water and baking soda. Grab Nivea body wash and a soft toothbrush (small children's work the best). Slather figures in body wash and wet toothbrush. Work a lather slowly and softly. Drop figures in water/baking soda for 3-5 hours. Place a toys in black trash bag with 2-3 fabric softener sheets. Place bag near window in warm sunlight. |

I had the same problem with some totes full of toys. They were in a basement where my dad smokes cigars and my mom smokes black & milds......the totes still stink and it's been a few months since I rescued them

My advice is overkill. I got some stank figures once, and that is about what it took to get the rancid stench out of them.
Also, the fabric softener thing works with a shirt if you don't have a dryer and you're about to go out. Just put the fabric softener on the hangar with a shirt and put the bag over the hangar and put it outside in the sun. |
