Christmas Eve I found a leak in my living room ceiling where the upstairs bathroom is. Stopped using the bathroom until Monday when I called the Home Warranty company who sent in a water damage person and plumber to repair. The plumber has yet to arrive but the water damage guy has been going to work since Monday. He cut holes in the ceiling and in the wall behind the tub in the bathroom. Then he tore out the kickboard fpr the sink and the molding around it and the wall near the bathtub. Long story short, we found two leaks. He hooks up a dehumidifier and blower and we get to drying the area out. Well,he comes in first thing this morning and the area has little to no progress since the floor is tile and it is VERY difficult to dry out the subfloor when the floor is tile.
I get the good news that all the tile in the bathroom needs to come up, the sink replaced, toilet pulled up and we STILL dont know if that will help. All I am seeing is $$$$$$$$$$ The joys of home owner ship. |

I'm worried I might have a similar problem. Our shower is a plastic one and the floor has some give to it and bows down in places. the one in the guest bathroom is exactly the same type but the floor in that one doesn't bow down.
Do you have a local guy working on yours $201 sounds kinda cheap for what sounds like a whole bathroom remodel? (or was $201 the price for Galactus? ) |

$201 is the price of Galactus that Shockwave has not agreed to purchase.
Thus far, this has cost me $1,300 for the water damage guy and $60 for ther plumber when he gets here. The minimum cost to redo the floor is going to be $350. If the tub is bowing, they may not have put enough support beneath it. My word of advice is to take care of it now and not ignore it. |

I would start looking into doing it yourself. I dont know what your skill set is but tile and grout laying is pretty brainless. Just rent a tile cutter from the Home Depot and make a day out of it. Drywall too...but that requires some on the job experience and can be tricky.
