I practically eliminated beef and pork. I do eat poultry and fish.
I'm a huge "animal friendly" guy and it was something I tried before. Being a weight lifter and into martial arts...I just couldn't do it. Now, I get alot of my protien through shakes, nuts...eggs..the poultry and fish. So this is solely due to how I view animals and I started thinking to myself: "Ok, I stopped eating beef because I literally don't want to eat an intelligent innocent animal that was slaughterd for a bunch of fat slobs".........yet I'm still wearing a leather jacket and sneakers. So I'm still killing the damn cow right?! What about eggs? I mean I eat 6 eggs a day right now.... The point that I'm making is that I understand it's not a pick and choose thing. So how do you do it? Even the protien shakes I use have animal products in them?.... Should I give up flag football because of what the ball is made out of? Know what I mean? How can you live "normally" and not subscribe to animal cruelty in some way...even if you arent doing it directly? Ok, so I give up the poultry...wtf do I feed my dog then!? I just have no idea how to do this, or how you do it and actually make a difference......do any Tankers understand this? |

I remember one time a long time ago for a few months or more I was a Vegetarian... for the sole reason that Natalie Portman was a Vegetarian... and I don't know... I guess I wanted to prove myself worthy or something. Haha.
Anyway, I am not big on food, so to speak, so it really wasn't a big deal in regards to missing tasty foods or whatever. Plus, I am a big instant ramen/cup o' noodle guy; so when I got hungry I just stuffed myself with noodles and soda. LOL. But I just couldn't handle all the preparation and discipline and monetary cost it takes to remain a Vegetarian. I'm lazy... I eat whatever is there until I am full... then I go sleep. LOL. If I was rich and had my own caterer/chef though... I would probably be a Vegetarian for sure though... probably. LOL.

I couldn't do it myself. I don't eat a ton of red meat, but chicken is awesome, I love fish, and some days, nothing but a hamburger will do.

There's no reason you can't feed your dog what's left from your own dinner. Unless, of course you eat it all yourself. |

I've been one for 2 years. never looked back. in fact, I've stepped it up and have been a vegan for almost a year. It takes time and practice, you may start and go off of it, then go back, but it will eventually stick and your body will be used to it. you've already got a good start with elminating certain meats.

Meat is fun. It tastes good. But, what we find on the chain store shelves is NOT meat. It's basically spam; particles that used to be meat and are held together by hormore and antibiotic injections so they pass inspection, keep on the shelves and are the right color. Moderation is what it's all about. |

ok serious response now.
Seems like what your describing is being vegan. .. not vegetarian(?) That's what I'm getting anyway. my friend tried this for a bit but stopped. He did it pretty much for the same reasons. Long story short: He stopped. I could never do it. I don't hold people who do make that lifestyle choice in any higher or lower regard. If you're going to do it then do it. There's no sense in worrying about the deeper aspects of it. Do what you can and know that those choices you make, no matter how big or small make a difference. If all the details do bother you, then do something about it. Join an activist group. Get some advice from others who are also into that lifestyle and have been for some time. Use footballs that aren't made from pig skin. Don't where leather jackets. Are there protein shakes that don't have animal products in them? Those things seem pretty easy to do or not to do. If after you've done all that, you still don't feel well enough in your resolve to accept what little "animal cruelty" you must endure to live your everyday life, then I might think that the issue lies some where else. Personally I think humans are genetically/spiritually/naturally(chose one or all, i don't care) meant to be omnivores.
