I would assume because this is a site devoted to a toy line based on the Military that we have a few who not only respect those in the armed forces but also know someone who is a soldier or is one themselves.
Most veterans have ended up having to live on food stamps, in poverty and even homeless. The things they have seen in war will make your stomach turn or make you loose your mind. Unfortunately this has in a lot of cases happened to them. The things they have had to do and decisions they have (and had) to make on the fields are hard and life changing. Today take the time to thank a Vet. Thank them for defending you and your country and for protecting the freedom you are enjoying right now. Because most likely, they have never heard the words "Thank You". |

I wouldn't say most. Some, yes. And that could be based on the fact that most who serve are from low to middle class families who don't have the educational, social, and career advantages that their upper class peers have, and would have been in the same situation anyway. The actual percentage of homeless vets is less than one fifth. The most recent study of food stamp usage by service members was conducted in 2003 before significant gains in military compensation occurred. Even at that time, only 2100 service members were on food stamps, which was about one tenth of one percent of the active duty force. I've always said the military shouldn't be looked at as a jobs program and unless you plan on making a career out of it, in most cases, a person can't/won't make any real money serving one enlistment. But your gratefulness is appreciated and thank you for your kind words. Last edited by CornDog_The_Ninja; 11-11-2010 at 10:23 AM.. |

G.I. Joe's are military and so are many of the collectors on this page- so I just wanted to pass on my greetings and well wishes to all of my fellow veteran collectors...
So have any of you purchased any toys while you were on delopyment? Back in 2004 I was collecting the Muppets and while I was deployed to Kuwait we got some free days and made it into the city...while I was in one of the stores I actually came across variants of figures...they other guys thought I was pretty crazy picking up toys in town and shipping them back to the states... In another store on another trip into town I found a Captain America car- picked that one up to and still have it! Then in 2008 while on deployment to Cuba I was purchasing the G.I. Joe figures online...and anxiously waiting for anything to show up at the store on the base...nothing ever did though So again, my thanks to my fellow veterans out there who like our immaginary hero's...are our Real American Heros.

Thank YOU Opus.
While I own nearly $15k of GI Joe & military related toys, I have never been through boot camp, nor set foot on foreign soil in defense of our country nor put my life on the line in defense of our great country in the pursuit of freedom. To those that have done so and in many cases are STILL doing it, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is you that truly make this "The land of the free and home of the brave". God Bless, Brian |

Let's keep the bullshit and ANYTHING political out of here. This is for those who currently serve, and those who have done so in the past. You all deserve respect.

Do Americans say "Happy Vetrans Day"? Here we'd never say "Happy Rememberance Day" I remeber saying it as a kid and getting yelled at.
Anyway, thank you to everyone who has served the Canadian, or American or any other armed forces that are on this site. Lest We Forget.

Thank you for all of the other military personnel that have served or are still serving. Without all of you our country would not be the same. I served 7 years in the United States Army and i want to say thank you to all of you and i am proud to have served you...
