Love it! some of the biggest leaps in technology get tested by our local and state governments before they ever reach taxpayers. I think anything that helps them keep the scum off the street is a positive thing.

I was in college and didn't have much cash, so the attorney I was using to file my patent basically told me that it was going cost a few thousand, which was a huge amount of cash for me back then. I had a marketing research group do a market analysis ($300). They said it wasn't worth it. I just threw my design back on the shelf and said screw it. Haha.

I think its great. It helps the police do their job more efficiently and catch more "bad guys". Its not like they dont do this now, its just that this should make it much faster and safer. I mean really, if the cops are near you and can see your plate and want to run it they can, so whats the difference? If youve got nothing to hide youre all set.

It all comes down to how can we make "more" money then anything else. Just like the average person that thinks that televisions main objective is to provide entertainment...its not...its money.
Countless people have outstanding petty tickets and all sorts of crap all over the roads and this is just another way to rake all of that in, which equals billions. People always equate laws with keeping people in line, but they're also a notorious way for towns, counties, states etc. to make money...and LOTS. This is where technology can become a pain in the ass. I can see the day coming in which cameras are EVERYWHERE watching our every move and when I spit out my gum on the sidewalk there it is to snap that picture sending me a $150 littering ticket in the mail....... |

This is frightening and effective all at the same time.
Technology like this removes the need for probable cause. It will probably help save lives but will also a TON of paperwork on parking ticket warrants that will keep police focused on low level, revenue generating fines as opposed to investigating the more dangerous crimes and criminals. |

Car theft, terrorists, on the run kid-nappers, etc., arent serious crime/criminals? I think anyone complaining about a police car having numerous cameras that can scan license plates is afraid theyll be fingered for parking tickets.
And as for cameras everywhere, wouldnt that be nice!? Think about how much crime there is in this country and how that could stop a TON of it. If people were afraid of being caught, prosecuted and punished, we wouldnt have half the crime we do. Simple as that. PS: Spitting out your gum is littering, along with tossing cigarette butts out the window. People do both all the time. I dont disagree about the money part but I wont go on from there because it gets into a political rant. Last edited by bigvig; 10-28-2010 at 03:54 PM.. |

If they dont make any fucking money how else are they going to do their jobs keep up with the technology curve and generaly keep stupid people off the streets??? Its out taxpayers dollers at work. I do agree some laws are too strict and some cops are assholes but put yourselves in their shoes and see how it is. Its one of the worlds hardest job and they deserve all the help they can get.

That chock hold is getting tighter. The steps are always gradual. That way it's more accepting each time. Scary.
