I am looking for a strong pair of winter boots this year I am sick of wearing sneakers in january.
I live in NYC so its cold but not the mid west. I want something military and vintage looking, I know allot of Tankers have great boots, I think I should have a pair of great boots too. This is what I was looking at this weekend, just to give yall a start. \ Blackhawk Warrior Wear Desert Ops Boots - Coyote Tan - 14 - Wide

I would say no to those, they aren't water proof, I grew up in Ontario Canada and the slush kills your mood instantly if you dont have dry feet, these seem like they're built to keep your feet cool (desert boots *ahem*), and my suggestion, go for gor-tex and make sure you get water proof.Steel parts in winter boots is another bad idea there are night mare stories from up north about people (construction workers) skin sticking to the inside of their steel toed shoes. I'll see if I can pull up the distributer my unit went through to order ours.

Well I live in an area where we get tons of snow and cold and I have a pair of Solomon boots. They have lasted me a few years too. Sorels are honestly the best choice. Military style is nicer looking but I'm about function. I snow shoe to work and use them for hiking and even at work since we need to keep doors open for customers. My feet stay dry and warm. Just something else to consider.

You going for the "looking cool, kinda military" sort of look, or do you want to be comfortable, dry and warm?
Ive spent my whole life in Maine, hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, snowboarding, snowshoeing, etc., so I know a little about cold weather boots. I spend more time in the outdoors than I do inside most of the time. No one pair is going to do everything, Ill tell you that right now. I have 5 different pair depending on what Im doing because boots are going to vary solely on what youre using them for. You want comfort and dry first and foremost, especially for general wearing out to the stores, etc., that are going to last so spend some money, buy some that will last and get some of these. Ive owned 2 pair in the past 10 years (my current ones are 4 years old and Ill get another 2-3 out of them). They are AWESOME boots and theyll last you forever. I spend most of my time in these, even in the summer when Im doing a lot of hiking: Gore-Tex Cresta Hikers, Leather: Hiking Boots at L.L.Bean For general winter outdoor activities, like snowblowing the driveway, sliding with family, walks in the snow, snowmobiling, etc., I have the older version of these when they were Goretex: NYTRO WP - Winter shoes - Footwear - Footwear - Salomon Ive also got my hunting, pack and snowboarding boots, but Im sure you dont need something that heavy. It all depends on what you need them for, but in any northern climate with snow, cold and wet (Maine or New York), you NEED something thats waterproof (ALWAYS buy Goretex, they are the BEST!).
