Well I sold all of my vintage Transformers comics on ebay last year. I had them in two stacks wrapped in bubble wrap each, then put into a box and securely taped. The buyer gets the item and asks where the second half of the series is. He then sends a picture of the box. One whole side of the box was ripped off! The stack of comics with all the rare later comics was gone and the box got retaped and sent on it's way with a note basically saying "My bad" (It was an official note from Canada Post claiming that the package became opened and this is all they could find)
So we initiate a claim on the insurance starting with USPS, then it's transferred to Canada Post, who after 5 months claim the buyer has waived his right to the claim by not filling out the forms (I was in constant contact with him, he filled out and mailed those forms ASAP) so Canada Post transferred it back to the USPS because by law, it's now my right to accept the claim. I accepted the claim from USPS, they sent me the money and then I paypalled it to the buyer |

That's a rare occurance but a nightmare all the same.Sending a note written "my bad" is inexcusable too.

I wonder if someone in customs open it and stole the rare ones?

I've been trading through the mail for almost two decades. The USPS is much better now than it was 15 years ago.
Same here. I'll work with buyers in Canada sometimes, but for the most part, it's just not worth the bother. Another thing to consider with overseas transactions is that the higher shipping costs result in higher PayPal fees. If you don't want to eat the difference, you have to pass that along in a handling fee. Unless what I'm selling is more popular or extremely difficult to obtain in other countries, meaning more cash for me, I just restrict my auctions to the U.S., or at least to North America. |

i will ship internationally. I mean the customs form isnt hard to fill out and there a nice lil postal annex right near my house and its almost always empty so. But i do see the point. Sometimes it is a major hassle to ship overseas but once thing i've noticed is that with the value of the american dollar being so low people from other countries are buying stuff more now than begore so cutting off international shipping, at least for me, would not be a good thing.

Oh, I can't begin to imagine why you'd be less than welcome! And in the interest of accuracy, Superman is half-Canadian. Joe Shuster was from Canada, and much of Metropolis is based on Toronto.

shuster left canada at 9 and was raised in america.
and as far as the movie goes, it was only meant as an example to how canadas are suckers for all things american. Last edited by אבדון; 04-29-2008 at 10:58 AM.. |

Which, whether you know it or not, is legal in Canada. Why'd you edit that out of your post?
Actually, he was ten when he moved to Cleveland, so that means he was "raised" in Canada and America. Doesn't change the fact that The Daily Planet and much of Metropolis was based on Toronto. In fact, the paper's original name was The Daily Star, the same as the Toronto paper Shuster sold before his family relocated. Except for you, apparently. |
