Every year I purchase one of those LED sets from Target. I have a Haunted House with a rotating witch and bat, a train and a toy factory. I pick themup the day after and get them for 50% off. I have not seen them this year.
I went into Wal Mart yesterday looking for some stuff and noticed how undoubtedly small the Halloween decoration aisles were. Slim pickings outside the normal cobwebs, fog machine and air inflatables. Even the inflatables had slim pickings. Anyone else noticed this? Is this a trend anywhere else or is Texas just not historically a big fan of Halloween? |

I don't know how far these have spread, but around here they usually rent out an old building (E.g. Circuit City, Furniture World) and stay form Late September to early November.

The news said yesterday that retailers were being cautious this halloween season with ordering product. A lot of them seem to be recovering financially

I ended up ordering my daughter's costume online after not finding what she wanted in the stores. I was expecting the Spirit store to have more than they did. Kind of dissapointed because each year I try to pick up a few more things post season so that the next year will be even better. Looks like I won't be finding much come early November.

Retail has been weird for some time now.
I used to be able to pick up a good amount of scary films around this time not in the past few years though. What kills me about retail is timing vs set up for them the retail year goes like this.... -Set up for Xmas and Halloween with a shelf for Thanksgiving (they used to be three seperate holidays once upon a time) the first week of September. -Valentines Day starts set up the week of Xmas. -Summer merch Jan 1st. -Back to school just a few weeks after school ends (depending on your school year in someplaces it hasn't even ended yet). Back to Xmas. |

Seriously, we don't even have Christmas stuff where I work yet. But there really isn't much Halloween as the seasonal section is pretty small. (I tried looking for something for a cosplay I'm working on, and the location I work at doesn't have it...yet most of the others do.)
