They're owned by the same company now. Oakley's used to be really well made, made in the USA, and had great guarantees. RayBans have been made in China or Italy for years now and were still more expensive than the USA-made Oaks. Oakley offers ridiculous discounts the Military, fire, police, emergency workers. Oakley, in fact, was so far ahead of Ray-Ban that RB tried to emulate their lens and Luxottica (RB's, and now Oakley's, parent company) sued by Oakley in the early 2000s. This lead to Sunglass Hut pulling all of their Oakleys for a period of time. They worked out a deal where Lux wouldn't try and steal their patented lens technology and SGH would carry Oakleys, and Oakley would drop the lawsuit. To this day, Ray-Ban and Oakley are the #1 and #2 sunglass brands in the world, in that order. |

I have both and I'm far more impressed with Oakley's plano lens technology than Ray-Ban's. I don't want glass lenses, I want polarized lenses. RBs are far too limited in their lenses. Not all Oaks are plastic frames, either. They have a LOT of metal frames which are much better made than Ray-Bans. As far as Ophthalmics, I prefer Oakley frames to RB, but RB's RX lenses better than Oakley's. So it depends on what is more important to you.

I never could find a pair of Oakleys that I liked and fit me comfortably. I prefer Ray Bans. I always get metal frames with a proper nose piece and flex hinges. If I don't I'm just askig for trouble. Unfotunately I end up losing them at some point, so I got the most comfortable cheap pair of sunglasses I could find because I got tired if dishing out the money to replace the ones I lose. :(

Sorry but American Customer Service sucks on the whole, in fact you don't have any - I am originally from England have worked Customer Service most of my life, and if I was to speak to a Customer like American Customer Reps do that I have dealt with I would be sacked on the spot.
Hasbro's reps are the best at non-customer service. I've dealt with Hasbro a couple of times and didn't have a bad experience. In fact the outcome was better than I expected. |

Oh, and to the OP, if you tweet, complain about Oakley. I know for a fact that if you slag Lenscrafters on Twitter, a CS Rep will contact you. Since Oakley an LC are both Luxottica owned, it might get things moving.

When I was a young Marine, I wanted a pair like Rickey Henderson had on his baseball card. Of course, the card came out like 3 years after I wanted the glasses. Saw them at 29 palms' PX around christmas of 1992. For me, I got cheap sunglasses. Cheap as in Free. Scored a $100 Addidas gift card off my coke rewards, bought a $100 pair of glasses with it. back in 2000-2001 when pepsi was doing the same thing, I saved up enough to score a pair of arnette ravens. I got those directly from pepsi and they were the only thing I got during the promo that didn't have pepsi logos all over them. Still have both. And Rickey's sunglasses are still cool as hell, IMO.
