you was out on the floor doing a job a customer asks you for help that is your number one priority the customer no matter what. I work in retail too and thats what the manager tells us.

I've worked retail for years and from what I've learned, the customer is job #1 no matter what's going on. There is no "Not my job." I was always told to "Get the sale." Either get the sale yourself, or hand the customer off to someone else who can. I agree that the manager should have taken over and nicely told you to continue with the work you were doing.
I guess some people think that to be a Manager you have to be a jerk. |

well that's the problem. Most managers today are not concerned about the customers. They are more concerned about what the Zone Manager or whoever above them thinks, getting the job done fast, cutting overhead while making profit.
In the end the personal service has gone to crap in retail. At my store, I've made customer service a focus because I realize that with out them, there is no store. |

And that is the first time I've ever been told to ignore a customer. And I darn sure don't like him implying that I'mflirting wiyh some little college girl while my wif is at home in bed. Sorry guys. I had to vent a little.

I was written up while working at Wal-Mart for staying over to help a customer find a product because no one else on the overnight shift would help her. After almost 6 years there, I quit the next day.
