This is a general question for off-road racing and bike riding in general...How do you guys ride your bikes without hurting your balls?

Does that just cover the cheeks or the groin area as well?

well i have a 01 raleigh m60 20 inch frame, and want to upgrade the forks. i was wondering since it has rock shox on it now, should i stick with that brand, so i know it will fit right?
and how do i tell if my handlebars are 31.8? is it wide where the stem goes and tapers out to a thinner bar? and the 25.4 are just the same width all the way accross? and what is a good stem to get? i was thinking of accenting my bike out with white since it's blue, and i always had black and chrome as my colors on my bmx bikes as a kid. so i wanted to stay away with black. and what are some good named pedals, i don't want ones with straps or toe clips, or clipless either. i just want a nice aluminum pedal like a bmx, like bear traps or something.. eventually i will change the gears, cranks, and cassettes hubs and rims, and possibly switch to disc brakes, but not sure on that. my bike has the holes for it, but came with v brakes or rim brakes. i'm new to this, i had a mntb since 01, but i never really went off road off road till yesterday, i alawys road pavement, sand , or dirt roads and basic trails. yesterday there were cliffs and i was doing like 20 mph down hills, it felt like fifty haha, and then bam you got this s turn and a bush.. it was fun as hell. Your handlebars and stem will be a 25.4 on an 01. Oversized handlebars and stems became popular not too long ago. It sounds like you are wanting to spend a good amount of money. My advice: sell your old bike on craigslist, and get yourself a new full suspension bike, or 29er. Are your trails rocky, rooty, or bumpy? If so you want something that will soak up the bumps, and give you a faster ride. Also, the technology has radically changed since you bought your bike. I want to say that your M60 is a chromoly frame, and if so, it is heavy. Steel has a good feel to it, but is heavy. Aluminum is light, but it is rigid, and will beat you to death in a hardtail frame. Most people that get into mountainbiking and buy a cheap bike or ride an old bike will be trading up for something new in one year. Go out and ride some different trails, and see how you like those. If you don't plan on entering any XC races, then, look at full suspension trail bikes, and/or 29ers. Bike shops are like car dealerships, they will negotiate on their prices. Believe me, they knocked $1300 off the price of my carbon mtb. Good trailbike for you: Specialized Bicycle Components : Camber Comp Great 29er: Trek Bikes | Bikes | Gary Fisher Collection | X-Caliber The larger diameter 29er wheels roll over obstacles easier than 26" wheels. |

my frames aluminum.
i just want to upgrade the components. the stock stem seems like it will break compared to the ones i see for after market. i don't wanna sink lots of money, just get better parts than the ones i have now.. like the forks and stem. the frames a solid frame, and is perfect for me now. later i will graduate.. |
