My advice, ride that thing into the ground before upgrading. Unless you are planning on competing, than upgrading is not not necessary.

my frames aluminum.
i just want to upgrade the components. the stock stem seems like it will break compared to the ones i see for after market. i don't wanna sink lots of money, just get better parts than the ones i have now.. like the forks and stem. the frames a solid frame, and is perfect for me now. later i will graduate.. Look at price point, and their Sette brand: Price Point - Discounts on Mountain Bike and Road Bike Parts, Accessories and Cycling Clothing The prices are cheap for this brand, the components are light, and they will hold up. |

This is a low end fork, but has much better tech than your old fork. I'm guessing you are probably riding a Rock Shox Indy or Judy. Rockshox Dart 2 Fork Post Black 80mm 2009 at Price Point Not bad for $85 |

Isn't off-road mountain biking redundant? lol
You might want to look into getting a gravity dropper too--a nice piece of equipment for downhills and places where you need to squeeze under a leaning tree. |

You were asking about forks, and with a 10 year old bike, it would be a good idea to get a newer fork. Plus, it has V-brake posts, which I'm sure you are running.
