I've had a ton of emails from Craigslist - all the same scam...
They offer to pay through paypal - and will even pay over the asking price if I can do it that way. what are they trying to get? I know its a scam - but can't figure out WHY... |

They can use paypal buyer protection if the items is not what they expect....they could also lie about the item in order to receive refund from paypal without returning your item.
Also, if they pay via paypal using a credit card they can simply charge back though their credit card company and paypal will not fight it. Or they could simply really want the item and paypal is the easiest way to get it. It's always a risk : (

With credit card processing, you do have protection (point-of-sale purchase) as long as you collected a signature and verified card owner via an I.D. Just one more reason why PayPal sucks. Craigslist = cash only, local sales only. |

By the way, there are no hotties in Iraq looking for some action for a negotiated price. There is, however, a contractor that is willing to dress up like a woman.

I have done a few items on craigslist and I never had anybody request anything other than paying cash.

Craigslist, in my opinion, is a side thought these days. The number of scammers, frauds, and fakes on all levels (both "social" services and commerce) outnumber the people who are legitimate. They really need to find a better way to screen users on that site.

I've used Upillar once. They tend to frown on scammers and cheats.
