man this sucks I got fired after 5 years working for the same company cuz they say I wasn't doing my job correctly .as in Not merchandising the walls properly, and refilling things like confectionery. man they're giving me 7 days to appeal the decision .dunno if I should or not. I mean I worked with the same 2 managers for 4 years and never got a complaint about my work . we get this Twat-bag f a new manager who despite people who had been in the company longer then him and had the experience in the same store still treated all the staff like beginners.
then after him came another manager who had been buddy buddy with the previous manager .and the staff who had worked with her in previous places said if you get on her bad side you might as well forget it as she had you permanently put on crap shifts etc. shees I'm just ranting here but it really really sucks.

Appeal it. You've got nothing to lose.

Probably a good idea to appeal it - can't hurt, and it may be this manager's way of putting the "fear of God" (so to speak) in you and making you decide if you want to work there or if you really don't care about the job anymore and leave. Some managers want you to feel beholden to them - grateful to them that you have a job. She may be of that mold. And she may be using you as an example to say to the store, "I don't care how long you have been here. I'm in charge."

well the funny thing is that manager has already left to go to another job .all cuz we all took a hit on our paychecks as the company was in financial trouble.but if I just leave now I'd have to wait 6 months before getting any sorta social welfare scheme.

apparently a lot of places are letting long time employees go and saying it's because people are not doing their jobs correctly,it happened to my neice a little over a month ago,and she was at this place for almost 3 yrs without any complaints or write-ups.it's all part of businesses trying to same money by bringing in new people who will do your job for less pay.sorry that it happened to you too man, things will work out in your favor.

Appeal it while hunting for something else, the job appeal experience is a good way to practice doing it more for real someday (when it might count to put up a good fight).

definitely appeal it. How many prior write ups leading up to this, and do you have documentation on whether you accepted or disagreed with them?
Consider this: Every manager knows their firing decisions have to be able to hold up for the Unemployment Office or the company loses money, and the firing manager is responsible for the loss of an unemployment case and for losing an employee who was doing their job correctly in the past (prior to that manager).
