thats bullshit. u should definitely appeal and sue for wrongful termination. im sure it will work out for u. its bad enough out here for people, but then u get people like that who come in and make it even harder for no reason whatsoever.

definitely appeal it. How many prior write ups leading up to this, and do you have documentation on whether you accepted or disagreed with them?
Consider this: Every manager knows their firing decisions have to be able to hold up for the Unemployment Office or the company loses money, and the firing manager is responsible for the loss of an unemployment case and for losing an employee who was doing their job correctly in the past (prior to that manager).

Then you should. I know you weren't too happy there, so maybe you can turn it your advantage, but if it were me, i wouldn't go w/o creating all allmighty ruckus. ..especially if the complaint was from a manager who turned tail and left. And get on to the citizens advice bureau asap. Make sure you know what your rights are in this situation, and if they let you go. Last edited by miscreant; 08-29-2010 at 01:18 PM.. |

id appeal (i cant make out if your in the USA or not)
id start looking for another job during the appeal. then id plan my dramatic essatric (sp) exit if it didnt go well. I cant top stealing a beer and releasing the emergency slide on a plane but im sure i could come close. also keep in mind even if you win the appeal keep looking for another job. they have you in there sites and will be micro managing you to build a stronger case for next time if they lose.

man this sucks I got fired after 5 years working for the same company cuz they say I wasn't doing my job correctly .as in Not merchandising the walls properly, and refilling things like confectionery. man they're giving me 7 days to appeal the decision .dunno if I should or not. I mean I worked with the same 2 managers for 4 years and never got a complaint about my work . we get this Twat-bag f a new manager who despite people who had been in the company longer then him and had the experience in the same store still treated all the staff like beginners.
then after him came another manager who had been buddy buddy with the previous manager .and the staff who had worked with her in previous places said if you get on her bad side you might as well forget it as she had you permanently put on crap shifts etc. shees I'm just ranting here but it really really sucks. You gotta understand that everyone thinks and works differently. You wont always get the boss who will let you get away with things and be easy on everyone. You always have to be prepared for someone to come along who will lay down the law and make sure his or her people do what they are required to do. I understand your situation because I have had buddy buddy managers and I have had stern managers. This was all during my last job I had for 7 years. I got different managers as I was moving up and they all presented a different persona. My last manager was awesome and stood up for us but he also had his days where he would be a little more on the stern side, but, overall, he was really cool and we would joke around all the time and have so much fun. One of my other managers would stand and block the time clock so we couldn't leave whenever it was busy. Another one of my managers would stand there with his hands on his hips and watch everyone. If you truly were doing your job the way it is suppose to be done, appeal it for sure. If this manager has no solid grounds to fire you, you have nothing to lose. If you weren't doing what was required of you, I don't think you have much of a chance, but you could always give it a try. The sad thing is, there are a lot of bosses out there who wont tell someone when they are doing something wrong so you assume you are doing everything right. Then, they approach you one day and run off a list of crap you didn't do properly. Good luck to you and I am sure you will find some work soon. Just a bit of advice: don't assume every boss is your friend just because you had a friendly boss before. If one lets you get away with things because he's your buddy or just plain easy going, don't assume the next guy who comes along will be the same.

cheers guys @baroness I agree with ya I never see my bosses as anything but Bosses. they they may be nice to you while you work with them . but the thing thats gets me about that job is everyone of the customers I got to know over the years always came to me as the knew I was on the level .and the other employees that started after me always came to me when they were stuck. heck I was so good at that job that the manager of one of the other stores (it is a chain store) would call me up and get me to help him when he was stuck for shifts as would a few of the other managers

"TheBaroness" is dead on. Unless you've got something as good or better lined-up I'm afraid your best shot is to suck it up and appeal the termination. If you do keep the job, make sure you leave any kind of poor attitude at home and bide your time until you find a better option. It all comes down to whether you want to tell them where to go, or whether you want the pay check. Good Luck.

Even if you don t really want to save your job. You should always appeal it. Reason is beacuse when you apply to another job all evidense is out on the table just in case. I would appeal and state your case. Stand up for yourself or else they and everyone will walk over you.
