If he didn't put any kind of delivery confirmation or tracking then you can claim you never got it and dispute the entire charge. he can't prove to ebay he sent it to you. Unless, maybe, if you gave him positive feedback already. It's kind of a a-hole thing to do, but you could get some sweet revenge towards the seller for being a d!ck.

I think you can open a report with eBay as well. If you're unsure the Live Chat with an eBay Customer Service Associate has always been helpful for me.
From what I understand eBay gets really bent out of shape when people try to sneak past the seller's fees by inflating shipping. Go get tha guy! |

Keep the messages and forward them to eBay. There is recourse for things like this. It's technically avoiding seller fees which can get an auction closed down if still current.

I would STRONGLY recommend not saying that you have not received the item. This is horrible advice. Why? (Some are saying.) You already wrote to him to complain about the price. Unless you wrote him directly to his email I am guessing that you contacted him through the eBay message service using the "contact seller" feature at the end of the auction.
If you did, then eBay has a record of you complaining about the shipping price of an item that you are then claiming that you never received. At that point you are going to get reprimanded for your actions. I myself used this AGAINST a bidder back in June when she was writing for me to ship her item to an address other than the one that was listed on the eBay and Paypal account. I granted eBay permission to go through any and all of my messages so they could use that against her in deciding the case. If you underpaid for the item but overpaid for the shipping then it may have been with the understanding to the likes of which was stated above. This sometimes does allow sellers to offer items at lower prices as eBay only charges fees based on the final price of the auction and not the final price combined with shipping. Then paypal takes a cut of everything. Me? I couldn't be bothered with all that so I throw a few dollars on every international order on eBay to offset their fees and usually a dollar to dollar fifty on all US orders in order to offset some of the online fees. Trade off is that I guarantee to ship it out within twenty four hours and with the exception of severe inclement weather or extreme circumstance, I always deliver on this promise as my feedback would attest to. I am curious as to what becomes of this. Please update us. |

The initial cost he quoted you is probably for International Priority, he then obviously sent it First Class.
You cannot get Delivery Confirmation on First Class International Mail, but you can on Internation Priority. This guy sounds like an ass-hole, please list his name so we'll all know where to avoid!

He has good feedback, so I thought I had no problems. I had no issue with shipping cost until I saw how much he actually paid. |
