I just picked up "Batman:The Brave and the Bold" First Season:Vol. 1 at Best Buy for 13.99. It rang up for $14.99 but I told them on their website it was listed for $13.99 and they told me that it was the online-only price and were not going to give it to me for that price.
I could've just said ok and paid the extra dollar, but for some reason I was in the mood to argue, that and I shop a fair amount in Best Buy, considering I bought an E-Reader for my Dad, a new laptop, an XBOX 360 and random DVD's, games, etc. all in within the last year. That and the fact that this particular Best Buy has computer kiosks all over it where I looked it up right before the checkout because I couldn't find it at first and was making sure it came out today. When I found it on their in-store kiosk, it displays the online price. So I asked them if they could do an adjustment, or when I get back to work (which I walked from on my lunch break) I'll just buy it online, use free store pick-up and be back in a few minutes. They looked at me like I was nuts of course and just decided to give me the adjustment. Anyway, do you think I was wrong or was the store? I mean, I'm not saying I feel entitled because I shop there frequently, (though I did sound like that) but if they don't want that type of confusion, they probably shouldn't have places where you can look up the online price once you are in the store.

Asking for the adjustment isn't a big deal. If I get it fine. If not, that's fine also. But if they won't, I'm not going to waste my time arguing over $1.

No... I always ask for the online store price. Especially if they offer site to store shipping for free... then IMO it makes no sense for the store not to match the online price.

I think what you did was fine. It's not like you ranted at them in the store. Hey, a buck is a buck. I can get a double cheeseburger at Wendy's for $1.05 with tax.
But, seriously if they want to encourage people to buy online they need to sweeten the pot more then a stinking dollar. Last edited by sharky; 08-17-2010 at 06:22 PM.. |

It is rather ridiculous that you can look up the price inside the store and get the online price, yet when they check you out it is a different price. And the fact that you can order online and pick it up at the store is even more so. I generally only buy from Best Buy when stuff is on sale, otherwise it's usually Amazon for me - free shipping and no tax.

Snake Eyes and large64 are correct. You did the right thing. It might make you appear cheap, but Snake Eyes hits it on the head with the reason.

IMO the online price and instore price should always match...I've always thought it to be absurd when they do not.
