An end of an era has come. The last of the U.S. combat forces are currently leaving Iraq. Thank you to all who served.

Now hopefully the country can hold itself together. The first ten years are the most crucial for a new government. If it can survive that (starting now), then they'll have a good chance.

serious! my god they've been there so long it just became a normality. I don't remember what it was like before that ... that's actually pretty sad.

Thanks to all those who served and are still serving.
We still have a very large number of troops at the DMZ in South Korea and also in Germany. We will probably never really be out of Iraq. |

True. We'll have a military presence there(Iraq) for many years. This doesn't signal the end of combat for our troops. They will be eventually deployed to Afganistan, which means more rotations, and shorter deployments. I think.
